Not trying to be negative but please remember to give blood this riding season. A brother might need it. Thanks.

When I came off of flying status in '91 I started giving blood every 8 weeks for over 8 years......then in 1999 they decide I may have MAD COW Disease so Im banned from giving any now even though its been twenty two years since I was in England........... What about all that blood I gave and now a hundred recipients have MAD COW? LOL

I can't give presently because they have a ban on anybody that has traveled to certain portions of southern Mexico during the last 12 months.... the horrendous flooding there spurned a malarian outbreak. Mine won't be up until May, 2009.... unless I have to return there for work.

I gace blood the other day as I'm going in for total knee replacement surgery an dmay need a cup afterwards, but if not, it's paying it forward for the next guy.
Besides, where else do you get to lay down and get treated so sweetly by a cute little nurse for a couple hours?

A couple hours? Heck, I spend longer filling out the paperwork than anything else. It takes me 5 minutes to give my pint, 15 to eat my snack and register for the next time and then I'm back to work in 45 minutes. Working on my 6 gallon pin.

I'm banned from giving blood for life. I had to answer "yes" to too many of the questions they wanted a "no" for. . .

LOL Yeah, if you've never given blood yet, don't take your mother or your kindly old aunt on your first trip - wait till after you hear all the excruciating questions they ask you before they put in the IV... and they ask again, every time... "no, I still haven't had sex with anthing outside my species..." -Mike

I give when they let me. I have to wait longer then most people because I have iron rich blood and I do DOUBLE RED which is equal to two pints of blood. So you have to wait longer to give.

Donated on 2/12. They won't let me donate again 'til 4/8. My mother used a LOT of blood a few years back & the local blood bank was right there to help. She is fine now. We haven't forgotten that! Family & friends have more than offset what Mom used but we still go to donate.

Good post, thanks for the reminder. I try to give about 5 times a year. Someone will need it. I hope it isn't anyone here, but just in case, there it is. Luckily (or is it by design?) I have no tattoo's scheduled to get in the way of giving blood. Tattoos are cool, just not for me.
