It was about 60 years ago the Korean "Police Action" started.... just wanted to thank those who served and made it back safely and honor those who died there.

Solo 1  (Wayne D.) comes to mind- I believe he served.... I don' t know of many others on this board, but I'm sure we have some other members who served....

Thank you.

RJ was a young Marine there... Bronze Star and Purple Heart. I don't recall any others, but like you, I also appreciate the service and sacrifice of all who went. Thanks, folks.

Yes, RJ was in the thick of it.  I was there in'53 in a Medical Outfit.

Yes, it is considered as the 'Forgotten War'   Truman referred to it as a police action.

I believe RJ received several Purple Hearts.  He was at the Chosen Reservoir.  He ,like most, doesn't talk about it much, at least not on here.  I hope to prod him a bit someday. Thanks guys.

Yes, 60 years ago the 2nd of August, we hit the beach to get our ass kicked off.

Pissed us off and we blew hell out of things.  5th Marine Division Recon then, last trip over was 1st Marine Division.

DDT had it right, Bronze Star & 5 Hearts........

That's my story and I'm stickin too it.........  So don't bother asking anymore about it.

   R.J.
My dad was with the 1st marines there also.
He told me it was the only country he was in
that both froze and fried him.
Seems all the other places that they sent him
just fried him.

Thanks to ALL who have served!! Wartime, peacetime, stateside, or around the world, Army, Navy, Marine Corp, Air Force, Coast Guard, National Guard. And all others, by other names, over the years - the Army Air Corp, WAC's (Women's Army Corp), WAVE's (Women Accepted for Voluntary Emergency Services), in the action, and behind the scenes.

Dad was in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. 27 years in the Navy.

My father was one of many who served in WWII then got recalled for the "police action".  He was on subs in WWII and was assigned to sub tender for the Korea action and really did little militarily speaking.  I vaguely remember living in Norfolk and visiting the tender.

Please be careful not to misspell Marine Corps.  It really annoys some of us.

You may spell Army Air Corps and Women's Army Corps any way you like.   Wink

I'll put in a good word for the U.S. Army too.  We have two old soldiers in our Korean War Vets chapter who were in the middle of the fighting.  I was there, above the 38th,  but in a support group, the 618th Medical Clearing Co.
No one shot in our company but we mended those that were.

I'm proud to have served and you can call us ex GI's anything that you want Smiley
