When my father enlisted in the Air Force, he left his church in the capable hands of my mother.  Nevertheless, one member of his flock took it upon herself to put Dad’s mind at ease.   “Pastor, the church is doing well,” she wrote.    “Your wife is carrying on with the deacons.”                   Lora Mae Miller
