A couple things to keep in mind when going to the U - P:

You can save some money on the Macinac Bridge Toll by buying tokens in advance. The tokens are available in most gas stations and gift shops near the bridge and cost less than the price at the toll booth. Also, there is an express line at the bridge for tokens only, so you won't be stuck in traffic if you have the tokens. Buy 2 for round-trip.  coolsmiley

Although much of the U - P (Upper Penninsula) is wilderness, remember, the speed limit is 55 everywhere. Makes no sense, but they DO enforce.  police

The Yoopers, as U - P locals are known, speak a language very similar to English, so communication is sometimes possible, although a translator may be needed at times.   Lips Sealed Yoopers refer to non-Yoopers as "Trolls", because trolls live under the Bridge.  uglystupid2

HWY2 West from the Bridge is a must! Great view of the top of Lake Michigan with fantastic beaches.

Ride safe!  cooldude
