Do not go to New Mexico.  There is nothing to see and no roads worth riding.  YEAH RIGHT!

Rolled out of Santa Fe, New Mexico this morning and the weather could not have been more beautiful.  The last time I had ridden down 285/68 between Santa Fe and Taos, it was pouring down rain on my brother Bear and I the whole way.  Well, today the weather was awesome and I got to enjoy the ride and what a ride it is.  Man, the whole ride was awesome!!!!  68 between Espanola and Taos was beautiful.  I mean if you have to travel down a highway....well.....

As you get closer to Taos, there is the Rio Grande Gorge that has cut it way through.

In Taos, I took 64 around the mountain and man, what a ride!!!!  Constant twisties.  What a great ride!!!!  I mean - constant twisties.

Wound up in Angel Fire.  Grabbed a cup of joe and then ran up to the Vietnam Memorial.

Then up the road a few miles to Eagles Nest.

Kept on 64 to Cimaron and over to Raton, NM.  Folks, 64 between Cimarron and Eagles Nest is another  gotta ride.  GREAT ROAD - lots of good curves and beautiful country.

After Cimerron, you get back into the plains.  Got to see two antelope.  That is one running down the road.

Stopped in Raton, NM for lunch before getting on I-25 north.  The Sands Family Restaurant looked good, so stopped in.  Man, nothing like a good chimichanga to ride on.  The waitress recommended it and I never pass up what a waitress recommends.

Got on I-25 and sailed over Raton Pass into.........

If I thought New Mexico was bad, Colorado is even worse....nothing to see at all.

Weather even warmed enough to get back to tee shirt.

Stopped in Trinidad for a another cup of coffee and a Colorado GPS....

Had a nice ride into Monument, Colorado where I had aimed for when I left.  I am going to be spending some time with Bear and Sunshine (Jill) here.  I was able to put Traveler up to rest with Bear and Sunshines bikes for the evening.  Great 1500 miles so far since leaving out Friday.

Can't wait to play up here in Colorado again for a few days.

WHOOOO-HOOOOO!!!!

I've been checking out this ride mostly from a balcony over looking the Atlantic Ocean in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and the pictures are awesome. You have missed out several times with VRCC 2011 Calendar opportunity by having that laundry bag visible in the shots....Great report with pictures  cooldude

We haven't heard a report on Jill for awhile.  How is she doing?

I'm doing great. Thanks for asking--and for the hugs. Its been two years since we'd seen Strider (at the Romp in the Swomp). Too damn long, I'm thinkin'.

I'm thinking about moving to a trike (thanks LynDel--miss you--hey to Wizard). I just need an auto shift and a place to stow the crutches and I'm good.

I appreciate Strider coming up here and being the fifth and sixth arms to pet our three dogs.
He's like their favorite toy--everywhere he walks inside or outside he has a little parade following him.
Sure was a lot more room in the bed when we had a lovesick little Westie refuse to go to sleep unless she went with Uncle Strider. Although, I am concerned they are going to scratch through the door every time they see him walk out.

What I want to know is this:  Has Misfit named his daughter yet, or is she still called Flat Six?  Got a handle and only a couple months old.  Bear saw him when she was about two weeks old, and she still hadn't got a name for the birth certificate.

Hey brother, those New Mexico and Colorado shots sure bring back some memories. You mentioned Angel Fire; some good friends of ours used to have a cabin(cabin? 5 bedrooms and 3 1/2 baths) up from there. When we were there...three summers in a row, you turned off at the 'Nam memorial and continued on into the wilderness for another mile. They were the last place on the road at that time, about 9800 ft., and it wasn't paved. Very interesting on a Wing. I've taken those highways and visited those towns you mentioned numerous times, would love to do it again but my honey can barely travel anymore. Thanks for the pics....and the memories.

Jill I am leaving to Brekenridge in the morning to work for the next few days. Home for the weekend and planning for the three of you to come over for chow. It is my turn to feed you. I will get ahold of you folks this evening. A trike sounds great! You should check out flamingo babe's Spyder. It seems to be serving her well.

Good ride report as always. My good friend Lucky 13 and I were on some of those same roads after Tucumcari. Beautiful up there. Glad you're having a good ride.
Warren, would you please give Jill my regards.
Jill, glad you are doing well and made me smile to read about you wanting a trike. You rock girl.  cooldude

Come on Damon, you didn't even tell her that baby's name!  Keeping her in suspense or what?

Glad you're doing well Jill.

Hello Jill...it's been a couple of years...hope all is well...you say...

I'm thinking about moving to a trike (thanks LynDel--miss you--hey to Wizard). I just need an auto shift and a place to stow the crutches and I'm good.
Misfit says...
You should check out flamingo babe's Spyder. It seems to be serving her well.

You might want to check out the Can-am Spyder SE-5...it is semi-automatic...paddle shift...no clutch...no right-hand brake...the all three brakes are interlinked and ABS and work off a right-foot peddle. check out the website...spyderlovers.com... there is a forum on the site for 'enable"ryders...

I have old damaged hands  that do not work as well as they use to....the SE-5 works great for me...I bought this bike on Monday, May 24th and left on Thursday, May27th for Tucumcari...I only had maybe 200 miles on a two-wheeler and that was about 8 years before....

Check it out...I love my Spyder

I was stationed in The Land of Enchantment when I was in the Navy.  I know.
Those roads were my weekend playgrounds. Yea, New Mexico really is overrated and hot. Thats where fanbelts break and water pumps go out. Nothing to see here folks.

I have owned 3 Valks and did only day rides until last years Inzane in Colorado. It was about 900 miles to Frisco.

The bike was a lot better than I imagined. I did better than imagined. Enjoyed it a lot and look forward to more of the same.
