Awhile back there was a discussion about whether you had to ride a Valkyrie specifically to qualify for the oldest rider award.  The discussion was left with the opinion that you must ride a Valkyrie.

Ok, so we fast forward to today.  As I'm making the last of the awards, I take note that the award says Oldest Rider.... nothing about what you ride.  Being somewhat of a "Words have meaning" kind of person, I now have a bit of a problem with the aforementioned discussion.

So, I've come to what I think is a reasonable solution.  I am making 2 oldest rider awards.  One for the oldest rider and one for the oldest Valkyrie rider.  Now, I run the risk of the same person winning both awards, but I would rather do that than disrespect anyone that's still on 2 wheels.

So, if you're still riding... ride up to InZane, you know we love ya!

**Disclaimer:  It's 2:00 am PDT, so I made this decision without consulting my fellow staff members.  Ergo, I may not live long enough to implement this change.   (But at least I got to use "ergo" again Wink )

Seems reasonable to me, but then again I am not yet eligible.  But, then again I think I have been discriminated against!!

I will preface this with "I am a little biased as I have a close relation to one of the contenders" but did we ever have a resolution to the "Newest Valk Rider" at IX 9?

As I recall there was some contention over whether riding on someones bike at the event qualified, or whether riding a bike newly owned by that person to IZ qualified.

Just to be completely fair, Connie, we'll need to also make an award for the riders who feels the oldest, the rider who has had the most physical impairment and is still riding, one for the rider with the least physical impairment who is still riding, the rider who has the oldest oil in his Valkyrie, and the rider with the most age difference between him (or her) and his (or her) co-rider.

It's a Valkyrie event and the awards for oldest rider, youngest rider, highest mileage, lowest mileage and such have been understood to apply to Valkyries.  I appreciate the contribution made by our members who no longer ride Valkyries, but I think it best to draw the line.  A lot of us attending the event (Well, most of us) come away with no award other than enjoying the comradery and the knowledge that we contributed to the good times.

Perhaps we could add a Please Quitcherbitchin award.    Wink

Im not talking about smoking the rear tire either... I was thinking about awarding one staff member
with a massage certificate at the resort spa for the one who went above and beyond the call of duty that did not fold like a cheap table under all the added stress of putting this rally on. The judging could be a peoples choice award , and do it at the "Opening Ceremonies" so that the winner can
have time to enjoy the resort spa before going home.
P.S. Thanks for putting on a great party  crazy2

I'm sorry, I don't remember offhand who won, but that award spedifically says Newest Valkyrie Rider.
Lil' Bit took a little spin on my bike at IZ9.  While we're proud of her, the little spin didn't quite qualify her as a "Valkyrie Rider."

Hmmm, I like you're thinking Stude.  However, most ppl don't know what goes on behind the scenes, making it impossible to fairly judge.  In light of that, Motomama and I think that you should just bestow one of them-thar awards upon each of us.   'k?   Wink
