I tried a Cardo Scala Rider Teamset and was very disappointed with its performance.  It was so bad, that I simply threw it in the garbage rather than risk selling it to someone and have them be unhappy with the purchase.  The Teamset is at the low-end of their offerings, that having been said I still expect it to serve the function for which it was sold.

I have heard other users on this board say good things about Cardo....however I am unsure what specific headset they were using.  Hopefully someone else will chime in with their experience.

I purchased the Cardo Scala Rider Q2. We have had very good success with it. It was a bit pricey. You can have up to four total linked. So others riders in your riding party can also talk with you if they have the Cardo system. It has its own radio receiver. The power save feature is a bit of a pain but other than that we really like it.

I too have the Scala Q2 set.  I wear a full helmet and often ride without a face shield.  I linked up with a fellow rider, who complained constantly about the wind noise he was getting due to my headset.  Also, I couldn't get it to hook up with my phone (ATT LG CU720) or Tom Tom Rider2 GPS.  I had all kinds of conflicts between them.

It works fine as a connection between me and my wife.

Dont connect both the GPS and the cell phone to the Q2.

I tried it lots of ways.  Q2 to GPS, GPS to cell.  Also Q2 to cell, cell to GPS.  No luck either way.  I also tried GPS to Q2 only.  No luck.  GPS to cell, no luck.

My objective was to have the bluetooth so I wouldn't have any cables going to my helmet.  Can't do that with the intercom.

I just upgraded from the Cardo Q2 headsets to the new G4 headsets...

The G4 are stereo bluetooth as opposed to the mono Q2.  Also, the radio stations and software are set using a USB cable, which allows for software upgrades as they make improvements.  Longer range and battery life too.  To program radio stations in the Q2 is an exercise in futility most times.

Got our new G4 Powerset (2 units) for $348....an awesome deal.

Both Q2 and G4 work well but I'm glad we upgraded.

I have the team set, and unlike JimL, I like mine. I use it with a Droid, and previously used it with a motorola phone and it has worked just fine as far as the blue tooth connection goes. One tap on the side of the helmet answers the phone, and when they other party hangs up, it goes back to music. When I am wearing my full face helmet people are very surprised to hear that I am on a motorcycle. When wearing an open face helmet, they say they can hear a little wind noise, but the voice is fine.

I also use a MP3 player (hard wired around my neck on a lanyard) and it works very well, although I did have to shim the speakers out a little closer to my ear to get a decent volume. The opnly complaint I have with the rider to passnger intercom is that you have to make a noise to get it to start before you start talking.

I paid less than  $150 for mine off fleebay and for the money I think it is a good deal. I did have to send the passenger module back to them due to not working after about 3 months. (I dropped the helmet on it) and they sent me another one within a week. (make sure you fill out your warranty paperwork if you buy one)

I had a problem with wind noise activating the VOX with my wife's open faced helmet. The problem was solved with: http://www.cyclegadgets.com/Products/product.asp?Item=WD

I've been playing around with bluetooth headsets a couple of months now. Found a set on gooddeals18.com for around $130 called BT Interphone. Cell phone calls work great, MP3 from cell phone works great, intercom works well rider to pillon and fair Bike to bike normally only good for 1/2 mile (line of sight). Pairing was easy however as with any bluetooth you lose signal every now an then, other systems seem to have this problem as well, I've been told. I decided one of mine does not recieve as well as the other so for the price I bought another pair instead of messing with warranty figure a few extra components could come in handy in the future. We've tested them up to 90mph and could still communicate, you do get wind noise on intercom however it is bearable. The instructions leave a lot to be desired however from some reviews from other systems this is common to all. Don't want to be the one to recommend these however they work well for me.

Mo Lee, thanks for that review I have just ordered a set of those from eBay for $80 plus shipping. I know where to come if I have problems setting them up when I get them.  Wink

I have just ordered a pair of Sena SMH10 bluetooth intercom with a group buy form another forum.
http://www.senabluetooth.com/index.php?tab_menu=features

It looks pretty skookum. It has received high reviews at webbikeworld and at advriders.com.  It can pair a phone and a gps at the same time. There are certain quirks to the pairings but most phones seem to work ok.  For me, it's mostly the intercom but I can pair my phone to my zumo 550 then pair the zumo to the SMH10.  Due to the bluetooth level in the zumo 550 the sound would be fake stero if I used it for MP3.

They also have an option for use for personal ear buds.

It cleared customs yesterday and is enroute and I should hopefully have it by Friday.

If you want more info I can give you some links to some common questions and setups and the group info.

The Cardo, cheap Chinese and even the Sena look very very similar. I suspect if we could ever find out the truth they are all made in the same factory and just badged and marketed differently.

After about 6 weeks with my cheap ones, they paired perfectly, linked to my iPhone without problem and the intercom with SWMBO works perfectly. When I have been out solo I have had the mp3 player connected to them. They work well and a good $80 as far as I am concerned and far more convenient than having wires connecting to the old intercom.

Yea I'm still happy with my cheap set as well, I'm finding most of the time when I'm having connection problems it is the phone, turn it off and back on and problem is solved.
