High milage

Getting the itch. Took the Aero out with the arm brace on. SWWBO was not amused, and I was told that I wasnt ready. She wouldnt give me a time when I WOULD be ready, so I am starting to plan....

Anyway. There seem to be some pretty good prices on Valks, with higher milage. Not 30K that seems to be about high norm in the market, but 60ish thousand.
Have any of you purchased a higher milage Valk and what, if any, problems did you run into? I know the engine if a multi 100K engine, IF it is taken care of. 60K is only 5K/year, so that could be a good thing, the maint should have been done to get it to that milage.

Just starting to hunt. Did see a lower milage balck IS in KY for 8K, and I will be within 1.5 hrs of there on Wed. 8K is a bit much for the Black Ops Fund when you toss in tax tags and transfer.

Bought my '97 4 years ago with 57,000 on the clock. Other than normal replacement of wear items, brake pads, tires, filters, etc. only one thing has gone bad. Had a hydrolock {that didn't break anything Thank God} at 78,000 miles. Carb bank removal & cleaning cured it. Number 3 carb was the offender, new needle & seat was all that was required.
Anyways, 102,000 on the odo now & it still runs like new. Thankfully the previous owner took very good care of my Valk. 
High miles is a relative term in the motorcycle world & us flat six owners are on the high side of the scale!

Saw a IS w 61K on the clock for not a lot more than that. Would like a Maroon and Creme tourer and I should probably wait another 2 months with the bone healing, find out for sure next Fri, but thinking reeeeeeeeal hard about a black IS at that number. It could sit for a while, probably needs cleaned The tourer could be Valk #2 

Seems most folks here who are running them a lot with reg maint there are no issues other than regular maintenance. I was just wondering if there was any issue that was more prevalent that I should ask if it was done or not. Spline grease and bearings, regular oil changes, pads, air filter, are the first questions.

I bought a 2000K Interstate four years ago with 59k on it. I stole it for 4500 so I didn't think I could get burnt by the milage. I did change all fluids, filters  and wheel bearings . I checked the splines and replaced the o-rings and grease. I also just gave her a full detailing. Now at 118k,  the alt quit at 94k and the driveshaft and pinion cup (my fault) are the only I've had to replace because of failure. I did set the valves and changed the belts at 110k. If the PO has taken good care of the bike milage is not a large factor to me.
