Alot of people are saying they use techron. Well which size? The stores here carry 12,16,20 oz. bottles. Also is there a good valk mechanic in North Carolina? The honda shops around here look at you like a dog looks at a whistle when you say valkyrie.

I buy the one that delivers the best price per oz. If I have a choice.
1/2 oz to gallon of gas for maint. use, 1 oz per gallon for heaver cleaning issues, straight from the bottle into the bowl for soaking.
Valkyrie mechanic???? Do not know one.

Both Chevron and Texaco add the Techron product to their gasolines. I take it you don't have these types of service stations out your way?

But it's in much lower concentrations, read: "marketing gimmick" Techron also used to be sold relabeled as the OEM Toyota fuel system cleaner at their dealerships back in the 80's. Their techs wee trained to use it for one tankful at double the label concentration for carbon buildup at the top of the stroke in the 3L V-6 engines. Darned if it didn't stop the engine tapping in my 4-Runner in one tank! The real key is to measure carefully and put it in when you're going be able to run out the tank in a day or two, preferably at sustained higher (legal) speed and temps.

WE ARE A GOOD 3 HOURS RIDE AWAY. SYNCHING THE CARBS IS ONE THING I HAVEN'T DONE. I HAVE HAD MY 1998 STANDARD SINCE 2000 AND HAVE 60,000 MILES ON IT AND HAVE HAD THE CARBS SYNCHED ONCE. AFRAID I WOULDN'T BE ANY HELP WITH THAT. WE HAVE RELATIVES THAT LIVE IN VALDESE & CONOVER SO MAYBE WE CAN MEET UP SOMETIME AND RIDE. IT'S A GREAT MOTORCYCLE AND WELCOME TO THE CLUB.

Hey Sandy S., keeping your caplocks on is the same as yelling at people.

As a rule of thumb, if you can do the "nickle trick", you don't need a carb sync... But it's fun to play sometimes, whether we need it or not!
