This is an HPI Baja 5b r/c car.  The fact that it's an r/c shouldn't infer that it's a small Walmart electric toy car.
The 5 stands for 1/5 scale, the B for "buggy".  It's a two wheel drive powered by a 26cc engine similar to a chainsaw or weed eater engine.  Top speed is 45 mph or so.  Shocks are actual oil-filled units with changeable pistons for different damping and preload rings for ride height and stiffness.
Power is transferred via a 8,000 rpm stall speed centrifugal  clutch to a steel gear transmission with viscous limited slip differential.  From there it goes out through large diameter universal type shafts to the tires.  Braking is by dual ventilated stainless steel disks on the input shaft of the transmission.  Air cleaner is a foam dual element type (oiled inner element) like a dirt bike or atv.  Yes, those are beadlock rings holding the tires to the wheels.  The frame is 6mm T6 aluminum with fiber reinforced nylon parts for flexibility.
Radio is a Spektrum 2.4 ghz spread spectrum unit with a 500 or so foot range.  Also has a failsafe that engages the brakes and reduces the engine to idle if the signal gets interrupted.  I added a kill switch that shuts off the ignition if power to the receiver fails, transmitter fails, or I choose to shut it down with my 3rd channel on the transmitter.

Here is a pic at about 90% completion (it's a kit with a manual that is 60 pages long and has 115 steps to build it).

Some pics of it sitting in my backyard (this hasn't been run yet, as I am waiting for one additional part).

a pic of one of the shocks, the brakes, and one u-joint.

and a pic of the tuned pipe with a special silencer to quiet things down to keep the neighbors happy.

To keep it Valk related, it's two colors match my Valkyrie.

That's kool Chris. I'm actually seeing it better here than when I was at Mark's yesterday. My mind was kinda focused elsewhere then. Looks like a fun toy. Let me know when & where you're gonna run it.

I was signed up, but not going... no new consolation toys,  but me and Carolyn are taking a trip across
the state on Hiway 9 to see my sister and her family at Ocean Isle Beach for a couple of days... hopefully
catch some body surfing waves and eat some kind of good fish...

Those folks up at InZane are going to have a blast...  cooldude

sheeeesh. kids these days. Thats really bitchen. Looks like a hoot.
I'm into R/C gliders. The problem there is when if fails, its in the middle of a HUGE cactus patch or unobtainable on a mountain side. And a Valk.
HAHA I did a glider in jade green and cream.

I got it at a local hobby shop here in Fort Wayne.
But, Chili is right, Tower Hobbies has them, but...... be prepared to drop 4 big ones on it, when all is said and done.

I had thought about trying planes or helos a while back, but prefer to stick to ground-based things!
I have told my oldest brother who does fly r/c planes that I could use this car to launch his gliders!  Neglected to mention the dimensions:  about 32 inches long, 25 pounds of weight, and the tires are 7.5 inches in diameter.  Need a lot of space to run it!

Yes, I do like my toys.  I don't have kids, so I need to be the honorary child in the family!

A couple of more pics:

Former President Bush was kind enough to lend a hand in wrenching on my new toy.

Here is another pic right after he helped install some needed lights for driving after dark on the dunes.
