Dissembled button and noticed that the contacts were worn down and looked to be pressed into the plastic.
Pried them up a little and shimmed the contacts up with some small pieces of thick clear plastic film.
Then we filed off a little of the plastic (top side) of the plastic block that holds the contacts to make the contacts raise up even more.
I know this is a temporary fix and I have ordered a replacement starter button.

Symptoms of the problem:
Bike would not start and the headlight would not come on when the key was turned on. Even when pushed started the headlight would not work.

Hope this will help someone else out there.

BTW.........I could not find a place to buy just the button (even though this button is used by several honda's)...had to buy the whole starter/stop switch assembly.

I am truly blessed to have a neighbor that is a jack of all trades and a master of some too. He easily traced the electrical problem down to the starter button and not the starter, clutch or kickstand relay. Thanks Bob !!

You should be able to tweak the contacts on the switch without replacing it. Clean up the contacts with some 1000 grit sand paper and put a light coat of dielectric grease on them. Tip….. test the switch before you install it and watch that little spring that can shoot across the room.

It always leaves us wondering if we don't get information back for the next situation that develops.
