Wanted a Kuryakyn Shifter peg but the kickshifter made it hard to put one on.  Took a page from BigBF and drilled the shiftr and tapped out to 5/16 X 24 threads.  Welded a 5/16 nut to the back of the shifter and went to work on the lathe.  Made a bronze bushing for the kick shifter to ride on and put it all back together.  Shifts easier now than it it ever has and looks great.  cooldude

I am looking at your second picture and noticed you have a ton of clearence on the slot. Did you modify anything to get that clearence?  When I bought and installed my kickshift, when the slot and the OEM shift arm were in line I had a bind. So rather then hacking up the kickshift I shorten the OEM shift arm by 1/2" and it works great. If you look at my pic you can see if I didn't cut the 1/2" how it would have no clearence. The thing was I did not like the slight spongy feel of the OEM shifter, I liked a more positive feel so I made up this floating peg extention. It is simular to your setup and it floats and rolls on the original peg stem.  My point is I have had several Valk. people contact me to sell them an extention but my main concern was that clearence. Now understand not all Valk. people are gungho on modifications like we are or have the equipment like we do, so I keeped it simple.
Your is a very very nice job !!!

I went by my origianl instruction sheet that stated the shifter needed some need a little play in them. I also think there are some differences from some of the early ones to the later ones. I also think there were diferences in some of the length of the shifter extension.  There is also an adjustment for the shifter where the shifter rod is attched to the engine I have seen them pretty far away from the engine housing.  This one took no mods.  It looks like on my 98 I may have to readjust to pick up some clearence.
