I finished my new bookcase this evening....I decided to stop at 2 coats of glossy polyurethane... cooldude

I started with a pile of wood panels....

I snipped a little here....some over there.....

I used my Kreg pockethole jig to join it all together....

I then added the trim work....

I then stained it with some light pecan stain....added a couple of coats of glossy polyurethane, and added a luan backing to it.....

I picked a cool wood grain piece as the top....

The finished product....I'll let the poly cure for a few days here in the house before I add the books to it.....

I've got one of those big, SLOW, Black Standard models that Britman sold me a few years ago.....but it's in the model car case.....I'll have to work on the Valk books....I think I have one of Daniel's books I could put in it.... cooldude

You said this was NOT political!

It definitely leans a little to the right if you ask me.

LOL

Very nice bookcase.

Looks great....  cooldude   but I am curious as to how you attached the shelves to the sides?

Did you glue the shelves in as well?

Oh... and NICE WORKSHOP !

Stanley that could be a Good Helmet Shelf or picture shelf for bike pictures.

Really looks good.

Thanks for sharing your hidden talent.

I used a Kreg pockethole jig to drill holes on the underside of each shelf....I also ran a small bead of glue on the end of each shelf for good measure...... cooldude

My little woodworking shop is only 12'x16'......nothing nearly as big as a lot of the ones other members have, but it was fun to build..... cooldude

I'm just an amateur and wouldn't want to try to sell my stuff as though it were "real" furniture....wood isn't cheap anymore for some reason....

You have to realize Steamer leans a little to the right so it's all good.

Really nice work Stan.  I'm jealous... I can do rough framing OK, but manage to bugger up anything nice.

Question:   How come no stain on the back panel?

I just never stain the Luan back panels.....I'm not real sure how evenly the stain would be on that.... Undecided
