While at Inzane I took the opportunity to check out the percentage of Valk's using CT's: 17.88%. That's 22 out of 123 bikes that were parked downtown for dinner. No message here; just an observation. Thought you'd like to know. I also got a chance to ride a Valk with a CT and it was a thrill, much appreciated, and very interesting to do so. I'll keep my opinion to myself.

33% of my Valks have a CT. Soon to be 0%.
Bought the '99 with a CT already mounted, rode it a while & I am entirely unimpressed. Don't really see what all the fuss is about, good or bad. I have had a completely open mind about the CT & really wanted to try it. It feels exactly like what I thought it would feel like based just off of the observation that it is a squared off wider tire as opposed to a skinnier rounded MC tire. I had no flaming death happen to me nor did the heavens light up & angels sing as I rode my CT equipped Valkyrie. 2funny 2funny
More effort required to manuever at low speeds on the bad side of things & better braking/wet riding on the good side. Other than that it feels all the same to me. I'm sure the longevity of the CT is much better & it is fun to watch some folks reactions when they spot the CT on the Valkyrie!  Grin
Anyways my main reason for changing back to a MC tire is to keep all 3 Valks the same mainly for Kim as we mix & match what we ride.
Now that I have ridden on both tire types I can understand why some Valkers like the CT & why some don't. I truly don't understand the vehement support for or against them, it's just another choice of accessory for your Valk.  Cool

That fat tire does look pretty cool! Wink

I would love to have an Interstate. I'm kinda pushing it with 3 Valks as it is now.
The black 'n silver became a Tourer yesterday, I added a set of black NC CruiserLiner hardbags to it. I'll post pics later.  Wink

BonS,

You gotta change the percent.  I was at InZane but didn't make it to the downtown showing.  So add one more.  Also, I rode a bike (earlybirds) when he was at my house and I know he has logged many miles on it and that bike handled completely different than my Faulken 512 or GearJammers (not sure what tire his was).  It all depends on the tire.... Just like some prefer a specific motorcycle tire over another.  To each his own...

I just posted to update the numbers.  I am not sure if Pharmboy made the block party or not either but he has a CT also.

Enjoy...  Trying to catch up on the posts  cooldude

I'd love to ride several bikes with CT's back-to-back. Now, that would be cool. If you have to know I really hate that it's 17.88% because it's actually a repeating decimal i.e., 17.8861788617886178861... and that definitely won't go on a patch and isn't catchy at all. If this thread hangs around long enough things would likely remain at this percentage, though, unless CT users are more vocal (textual?) than others. I think I'll just have to go to every future Inzane's and do it again to chart the trend . . .  Cheesy

Naw, let's just ride!  cooldude

I might be tempted to try a CT if I wasnt getting over 20K miles on every M/C tire.  From what I hear youse with the CT on back arent all getting much better than that (or are ya?)  what is the current miles on tire number for the DS?

You're a bass-ackwards dark sider.  I was one VERY briefly, as I got rid of the rear tire on the front.  I didn't like it.  But I AM a double darksider, as I have NMCST's on both my Valks.

It varies wildly.  8,000 tp 30,000.

20K on a MC tire is amazing.  How many of those are on a trailer?   Wink

I get about 8K on a MC tire.

Life's too short to take things too seriously.  I have trailered my starndard around some.  Home from Green Bay when I bought it.  To Sturgis once, and to Gatlinburg once.

I'm not sure because I've never "finished" a car tar. 1st Valk my ct had about 17,000 when
I totalled it (not tire related)and my current ct has close to 19,000 and looks like it'll
go 15-20,000 more easy. I'll probably replace it next spring though. GYTT 205-60.
YMMV
