What is a cdi ???  If you're referring to the ECM [ the electrical sparky gizmo] then the answer is yes.. The advance curve is different, in that, the IS unit allows for a couple extra degrees in advance through the mid-range over the STD unit while leaving both base advance and overall/total advance the same..
