is coming.

My knees are bad and I'll be having replacements done.  That's part of the change.
I've already had a change when I sold the Valkyrie, it was like closing the door on a great experience that lasted for 13 years. That was also part of the change.

However, the biggest change coming is I'll be moving to a senior apartment after spending 55 years at the same home with the wife and I raising three boys and one girl.  We had a rule at our home given to all our kids, the rule was that they could stay as long as they wanted but once they left, they couldn't come back.  Little did we know, LOL

Mark stayed. in fact he stayed so long that he was a big help to me when his mother, my wife, died in 2002.  He stayed so long that he built a three car garage in the back and paid off the loan.  He stayed so long that I sold him the house and then I stayed in his house.

Now that he's found the right one for him (many have met Twila at Inzane 10), I'm now leaving and THAT is the big change.  I thought having my 80th birthday was change and now, two years later, I find that wasn't so big.  Even though I didn't ride to or at Inzane 10, I still found that it was great meeting all of you so that wasn't change either. Repairing my knees will be a change but that's part of life.  When you have changes you should plan for them.

Marcia told me I should have a goal concerning my knee replacement.  I've come up with one, maybe unrealistic at my age but it's a goal anyway.  After replacement and recuperation, if all goes well, "God willin' and the creek don't rise", I intend to buy a new Triumph Bonneville.  I started the motorcycling insanity in 1947 riding a Matchless 500cc thumper, a 'Limey' bike.  It would only be fitting that my last bike be another Limey bike.

Rock on Wayne!  If there is anything we can do to help out... let us know.  You brother... are an inspiration to many of us.  I am 42, and seriously doubt, I'll make it as far as you have.

Good luck with those knees!

We're pulling for you Wayne.  I don't know how I missed meeting you at Inzane, you and Karen were on my must meet list.  I met Karen, but I guess our paths (I didn't make it on the cart paths) never crossed.

When is the surgery?  I'll pray for 100% success and recovery.

Your lucky in the respect that these are so common now days that the procedure has been refined and much less risk involved.  Wishing you a speedy recovery...........

Hey Wayne,we start changing from the moment we are born, its all part of life...you will come through the knee surgery fine as long as you listen and do what the doctor's say...moving into the apartment will be fine, different but fine, you are a social type person and make friends easy so you will probably like it once your used to it... Good luck with the knee replacement.  My dad had one a few years ago and is doing great. Great goal to have, hope you enjoy the new bike.

While you are in recovery mode, please feel free to share some more of your bike stories.  I always
enjoy those and I think many others do as well.

Wayne,
I am so happy to hear that you have made plans.  I feel you can reach any goal you place in life and will enjoy it beyond belief when you reach it.  Please keep us posted on dates, just may have to plan a motivational visit...  I think you will be so happy in the senior community as they typically have a lot of activities going on and will keep you busy.

Marcia, the apartments(more like Condos) are for people over 50 and most have garages.  Quiet and no organized activities of any kind. Just nice quiet places with no government assisted living.  I'm into the shooting sports, photography, riding, etc, ..... not cards, dominoes, senior luncheons, crafts, etc. I don't play well with seniors Grin Grin, They have other interests than I.

Plenty of room a nice garage, and quiet, with no kids, nothing wrong with kids, Ive raised a few.

Good luck with all the changes. I think you are going to do very well, just by the attitude that comes through in your words.

I went to a talk recently by an Ortho Doc on knee replacements. I am a Nurse Practitioner, and I was impressed with all the improvements that they have done. Make sure you do the Physical Therapy well. It will be key in how good of knee you end up with. Then saddle up that Bonneville and ride.

Good Luck!

You are an inspiration Wayne.  cooldude I enjoyed talking with you at Shanty Creek and seeing the mods you have done to the Miata. That's a "bad" ride. I like the black and tan.
I wish you the best with the knee replacements  I know you'll do well.
As for the apartment, my step dad moved into one a few years ago and loves it. Like you said it is quiet and convenient.
I like the Bonnies and look forward to ridin' with ya when you get one.

Wayne, I would have shared Skinhead with you. Your plan sounds great, they are right about the therapy, and be as strong and fit as you can be before the surgery, it will make your recovery time shorter.  I might have to ride out there on my scooter to join you on the maiden voyage of the Triumph. That would be worth taking a few vacation days! Don't worry, I can keep up...

Let me know when we're going Karen, it's sounds like a good reason for a git together.

Giter done Wayne.
