OK - route planned.  I'll pre-ride it this week to check on times, etc and make sure it's fairly safe.

Start at the TA Truck stop I-30 and 205 in Rockwall.  Saturday, July 31st. Meet at 9:15PM, KSU at 9:45PM.

South on 205 to 276
East on 276 thru Quinlan and then over Lake Tawakoni and to Emory.
South on 69 for a few, then east on County Road 2795 (Lake Fork Drive)
Continue to the split, then take County Road 515 east.  This becomes FM 515.
Go over Lake Fork Reservoir, then South on 154 to Quitman.
Turn south on 37
37 merges into 69 north of Mineola.
Continue south on 69 thru Mineola and Lindale towards Tyler.
Reach the Tyler loop.
Just south of the loop is Denny's.

Should arrive 2 hours 10 minutes after KSU, or about Midnight.

Will request tables together once we get a final count in Rockwall.

This is subject to change after the pre-ride and grand slam at midnight Wednesday.

Hehehe, besides, she'll be on the ST1300... If we're mean to her, she'll just let it ZOOM ZOOM and embarrass a whole bunch of Valks all at once! Wink

How does everyone feel about inviting people we have not ridden with before?

The more the merrier.  If they haven't ridden with us before, then it's about time.  We can always welcome new friends.

That's my opinion.

I just sent you an email, sorry for the delayed response I was out all afternoon.

I feel that if you are comfortable with them, I'm OK.

Any one else have an opinion?

Yea, but you might not like my opinion...  Smiley

If they have ridden in a large group a couple of times before, it should be OK.  If not, it might be good if you have a precise pre-ride meeting....

I'm just sayin'.,

If they are riders, no problem.

If they have loud pipes, they may end up near the end of the procession, though.  Won't matter to me as I'll be leading but I've been behind the Harleys with loud pipes before and it's not fun.  Plus had to dodge all those parts falling off and the oil slicks.  We put the HD riders together because they are used to such hazards.

Hey, I kid, I kid....

Heck, TECHNICALLY I don't think the spousal unit or myself have yet ridden with the vast majority of ya'll!

P.S. How'd the pre ride go? Anything interesting turned up or changes to be made?

Actually, I just got to the pre-ride Friday nite.  Got home about 30 minutes ago.  Missed a turn in Emory so went around and tried it again.  2nd time's a charm!

Found it interesting that the hottest areas were over the lakes.  Guess the water is holding the heat.

The half-moon was really big in the cloudless sky.  Stars weren't as easy to see because the moon was so bright.

There's a Walmart Gas Station just north of I-30 and 69.  The standards and tourers will probably need to fill up there.

Denny's in Tyler is an older Denny's but it is OK. Parking may be tough.

For the route back, assuming most will want to hot tail it home. But we're going to do a little twisty on 110 from Tyler up to I-20, then hitting the slab back to the city.

See everyone at 9:15 tonite!

Final notes:

Temperature was 79-82 degrees last night during the pre-ride.  Hit fog between Tyler and I-20 while on 110.  Nice.

Supposed to hit 103 today?  So come ride in the "cool".

Thanks for organizing and leading the ride Rainmaker! Glad to share some wind with everyone that came, we had a great time, thanks again!

...and sorry the spousal unit and I got a little impatient once we hit I-20 coming home...  Cheesy

BTW... The odometer hit 99,000 on the way home... Resisting the urge to do an Iron Butt and finally make her a new bike again... of course, the heat during the day right now is a REAL good incentive to NOT do an Iron Butt right now too!

SInce I missd out on my opportunity to iron butt it last week with Dave² and JC; I'd be willing to join you, I like the idea of an all Texas butt burner route.

I almost joined you but decided to keep it down to the speed limit.

Thanks to all riders out tonight.  Not a lot of twistees - heck, none until 110 but the idea was to ride when it was cooler.  So we accomplished that.

Serk, no problem about you taking off - as the ride leader, I try to keep the speed comfortable for all but if someone wants to go ahead, no problem with me.  If I wasn't leading, I'd have been there with you.

Had a great ride last night/this morning ... Thanks for a very well planned ride RainMaker.  The spacing and the speed were perfect for a very nice ride. I do agree 110 was the most fun.

110 was pretty nice. I pulled out at the Wills Point exit and cut back up to Quinlan to go to Royse City. Some nice little roads through there.

And this one with the photographer.  Tried to make him brighter but could only change the light level on the picture.  The subject is no brighter afterwards...... crazy2

K8 is his new $3K hearing aid.  It fell out of the bright safety jacket when he went inside to buy some stuff at the truck stop.

Add to that the fact he forgot his clear goggles so was riding with sunglasses on. Cool

Basically, the tail gunner couldn't see or hear.    Evil
