Does the horn/taillights etc still work?

If so, then probably your starter button. Check here for that repair:
http://www.valkyrieriders.com/shoptalk/VSGPages/starterbutton.htm

If the lights are out, check the battery cables and make sure they are tight and clean on the battery, and the ground where it goes to frame.

Also, there is a plug to the starter relay that can corrode/fail on the older Valks.

Lots of good reading here:

I had the same problem with mine.
Cleaned the starter button and nothing.
Went to the starter relay and crossed the connections and she fired right up.
Bought a Goldwing relay for half the price at a local shop and have had no problems since.
Although the Goldwing relay is backwards to the Valk relay but I used a ziptie to hold in place and works fine.

Just my 2cents

Try jumping it off a non running auto battery before taking anything apart. The other day I parked mine in the garage  after riding arround awhile. Two hours later  went to go to work and the bike cranked about 1 sec and then nothing at all. The battery died that fast. I installed a new one from walmart (Yusa)  and been riding ever since.

If you have headlights, I'd look at the kill switch as a possible reason. . . .  Spray a little WD-40 in it and work the switch around a little bit. Several people have had problems with the swicth (me included.)
