My full face, which I very seldom wear, as I like my Fulmer open face better, it works great..... I used it one time in a South of the Border ride, and glad I had it as I had lost my sunglasses......... Sun was brutal.

that is one of the features that i like about the Roof helmet. I never wanted to juggle carrying a clear shield and a tinted shield and have to switch them as it became dark. Having an inner shade would be a nice comprimise.

I get one of these scary pictures every time I reach over to turn on or off the little camera: You can see the little strip at the top of my face shield... it is one of these: http://www.aerostich.com/catalog/US/Helmet-Sunblocker-p-16679.htmlI hated the strip for a few minutes the first time I used it, then it quit bothering me at all. The strip, in combination with some dorky looking wrap-around sunglasses to keep the sun out in the early morning or late afternoon, make me invulnerable to the sun You can dip your head as if there was a visor on your helmet and get the effect of double sunglasses when headed directly into the sun. -Mike

I wear glasses so I really love not having to fool around with changing glasses or swapping shields. Plus I don't have to take my glasses off to put it on.

Looks good, makes sense. It reminds me of my old flying days. Military flight gear/helmets. I just can't wear a fullface in Florida's heat.

I love the concept but whenever I've tried on other helmets such as the Nolan that have the same feature, it seems as though the light area below the dark screen is especially bright (reflections off chrome, etc.) and seem distracting. Anyone else have that problem?

I have worn glasses since I was about 10 so I just don't notice the brightness from around the edges of my sunglasses ... or at the bottom of the visor. I do know that the HJC visor, when down, almost touches my cheeks so it may also have better lower coverage.

I bought the VOX primarily for the inner sun visor. The feature is great! The quality of the VOX is marginal - I have had to tighten down the screws on the visor a few times and the inner visor control lever doesn't work anymore.... The inner visor feature is great though - highly recommended for eye glass wearers.

I was checking the HJC site and didn't see any open face helmets with the sun shade feature. I also can't take the full face helmets. Not only are they incredibly hot, but even though I'm not claustrophobic, I feel like I'm encased in a space suit. lol. Too restrictive for me.

Bought one of these myself and it's perfect. When I ride to work it's 45 miles along the 101 here on the CA coast, and so far it's been a bit chilly in the mornings so the full face is nice. Also, the 101 kind of runs east-west along the coast here above Santa Barbara, so often times you are looking right into the sun in the mornings, so I actually combine my normal sunglasses AND the flip down shade. Works perfect, even with my fat head. I have a nice HJC half-helmet that slips right into the hard bag for riding when the weather's nice (or lunchtime trips around the winding roads). Definitely am happy with HJC products.

According to the HJC Web Site ... all IS helmets are equiped with the adjustable Sun Shield .... http://www.hjchelmets.com/

I also bought a HJC Symax II last summer and really like it. They do seem to be sized small though. My last full face (Shoei RF-700) and my Fulmer half helmet are both size large. But I had to buy an XL in the Symax II and it was still very snug when I got it. I even considered sending it back for a XXL. But now it has broken in a bit and is VERY comfortable.
I also like the inner sun shield...somewhat. Even if I put the sun shield all the way down until it just barely touches my nose and cheeks, it seems that the bottom edge is in line with my gauges...not a real big deal but can get annoying when you just want to glance down. Otherwise I like it alot and would recommend it.
I bought mine from newenough.com for a little over $200 shipped.

Here's a reveiw from Web Bike World on the Symax II. They said the inner sun shield isn't dark enough but to be fair they said that about every helmet with one. They recommended using it like the sunvisor on your car and wearing sunglasses. In addition, the helmet has channels for eye/sunglass ear pieces. http://www.webbikeworld.com/r2/motorcycle-helmet/hjc/sy-max-II

I stop by to try it on and damn ... It hit on my chin I thought WTF? Did I become Jay Leno? jeez... They order another model HJC IS-Max to try on I hope that will have room for my Jay Leno's chin Sy-Max II look really nice helmet and stlye... I like that inner visor and it has three adjustable if visor touch your nose just dont slide all the way down it has 3 step 1 or 2 or 3 whichever that fit for you... This is SY-Max This is IS-Max If it does not then I will see Sy-Max or IS-Max (I prefer SY-Max) about remove chin pad and mod em like we always mod on our Valkyries right?
