At 70 huh? Well, I think there are many variables that would come into play first.... let alone the speed of the bike. Variables like the quality output of your specific audio input device, it's capability to drive the amp enough, quantity and placement of the speakers, exhaust sound on your bike (if too loud maybe not good), windshield and air noise, etc. If you needed an in line booster (boosteroo or ?). I tried a unit on my VTX similar to that but it wasn't 250w...... it was not on my VTX for very long and I now use earbuds and MP3 player if I want to listen to music on that. I was not impressed, my exhaust was a bit louder than stock and it was more a PITA than an MP3 player/earbuds would be.

I had the Rumbleroad non-amplified speakers paired with a 100W amp. The speakers were installed on medium sized 9" ape hangers, mounted on the "inside" upright part of the bars (speakers facing each other), angled up so the sound was directed right at my head. I run the OEM windshield which the top of is about or just below my chin. Sound was good until 65MPH, then got steadily worse as the my speed increased. Lasted about 3 weeks on the bike. Waste of money for me. Also cluttered up the bars and looked like crap (even though the chrome and style are excellent).
I second the ear buds, but only at certain times. Only when I am alone, no trailer, and NOT commuting.
I am a huge music fan, but, on a motorcycle, I find it to be another distraction that I don't really need, except maybe for looooooong trips. I see guys with interstates continually fussing with the gadgets. If I owned a Goldwing, I'd probably be a statistic by now. KISS (keep it simple stupid) is how I try to ride.

I find cranking up my music and running curves is great. It may distract some drivers, but for me it's what I like. With the sharp 100 amp and my xm radio plugged in I can run 75 mph and still hear it good. I would recommend the black speakers over the chrome ones. My first one was chrome and looked good, but when the sun hits it just right it will blind you. David

Is there a way to hook this system up the the 4 speaker output for an interstate? I don't need the speakers. But would like to adapt the output to 4 speakers insted of 2.

I have the 100 amp unit as warlock does and feel pretty much the same as he stated. It a cheap solution to ad tunes and while not ideal, it's the best bang for the buck until I can afford an Interstate.

I have thought about that. I have a 4 channel amp that I mounted in the trunk. Thinking about ordering 2 of the 100 amps and add a y adapter to the inputs and that way each amp can be controlled as needed. David

I have recently installed these speakers on my 2000 IS. http://www.polkaudio.com/caraudio/products/speakers/5/db501/They sound better than the OEM speakers, and after the mods. Went on easy enough. However now I hear a decrease in the volume from what I had with the OEM speakers... Was not expecting that.... I am hoping to find an amp that will boost the volume back up at this point. Any help is appreciated.

I had the 100watt system also and thought it was great, however it died after about 1 year and I kept the speakers and ordered the gooddeals small fm tuner. The speakers alone are worth the price of the systems. I'm not sure any system will sound good at 70 mph however with stock exhaust and a good windshield it is not bad. Any more I mostly use there BT interphone (also from Gooddeals) and blue tooth MP3 from my cell phone and it sounds great at any speed. This give me phone, intercom, and music however some times blue tooth can be a pita. I still have the system on each bike mainly for the FM radio and when I want to share my music with others.

I run a 400 watt Blaupunkt class D amp with 4 Alpine speakers in 4" spotlight shells. Used to be Rumble Roads but the speakers died long ago & I replaced them with the premium Alpines. I added a preamp and mixer from electric-avenues.com to allow me to mix in sound from 3 devices - radar, GPS & music. Also provides a handy dial volume control. Music is from either my Zumo 550 or Ipod. The Zumo has XM capability tho I'm not using it. I am not short of volume - I can hear the music clearly at any speed I care to ride even with my pipes. But I rarely go more than 80. Tuning - the amp has lo-pass & hi-pass filters - set to block below 100Hz. Also have Bass Blockers to block below 80Hz. I really don't want to blow the speakers. I installed a filter on the power. Didn't need to install a ground loop isolator, like I did on the wing. Though that's a common problem - typically shows up as a buzz in the speakers. Didn't need to install a fader - just wired the speakers in parallel on this 2-channel amp (really intended as a sub amp) - the amp has plenty of power to drive the halved impedance. Then aimed the back speakers to affect their apparent volume. See http://www.horseapple.com/Valkyrie/Tech_Tips/Jammin_with_Blaupunkt/jammin_with_blaupunkt.htmlYou can see the speakers front & rear in this pic:

Thanks for the ideas and input. As far as my valk goes I'm running stock pipes with the piggies cut and the rear baffles drilled. Up front I've got the MS Batwing with the 12" windshield. I usually run 65-70 mph on the highways and just want someting I can hear. Was planning on using my apple ipod as the source. The Shark 250w systems true RMS I didn't find advertised but would guess it to be about 60 watts per channel. Thanks again to all.
