I'm really interested in one of these, fuel injected, six speed transmission, half the price of the Connie I was looking at...Anybody know anything about them? Anybody own one? Lotta bike for under 5K
Any comments good or bad appreciated. TIA

Those CBR 1100XXs have great shift levers!
I have one of those shift levers on my SuperValk, and I'm going to put one on my Rat Rod Valk too!

I've never rode one so I'm just going by the picture....The picture scream's " UNCOMFORTABLE " .

I had a Suzuki Bandit 1200S that I put 31,000 trouble free miles on ....I miss that bike they are one of the best bangs for the bucks out there IMO.

I've always wanted one of those... Very nice bikes... Unfortunately, at 5'19", 300 pounds with 2 herniated discs in my lower back, not for me, but always wanted one anyway...

Trivia - The Hayabusa was so named because it was designed to be a Blackbird killer...

Quote
Hayabusa 隼 is Japanese for Peregrine Falcon, a bird that often serves as a metaphor for speed due to its vertical hunting dive, or stoop, speed of 180 to 240 miles per hour (290 to 390 km/h), the fastest of any bird. In particular, the choice of name was made due to the fact that the peregrine falcon preys on blackbirds, which reflected the intent of the original Hayabusa to unseat the Honda CBR1100XX Super Blackbird as the world's fastest production motorcycle.

There was a Honda Red (burgundy) mint XX with under 5200 miles for $5K for sale locally a week after I bought my Interstate this Summer. Had I not bought the Interstate, that XX would be in my garage right now. I can't imagine a better deal on a better motorcycle. As you likely know, the XX has a cult like following as well.

All the best,

Never ridden one but the guys on the Sport Touring forum seem to really like 'em.  Here's one discussion about common issues, sure there's more if you looked around.

If I was gonna lay on the gas tank... it'd be on one of those.  Very smooth.  I followed one in the twisties once... I was having so much fun, I forgot the Valk doesn't have the lean angle a XX does.   crazy2  After I hit hard stuff in the corner... and (as a result) sliding toward the oncoming lane... had to scrub off some speed after steering into it to get a solid rubber bite and dive back into the turn.  LOL  Freaked out the guy ridin' behind me... got my attention too.   uglystupid2

I've got an itch to pull the trigger on something smooth & fast, fuel injected, six speed transmission that won't break the bank. I was seriously considering the Connie and the FJR, will post when I buy.
Thanks for the input cooldude

Why doesn't Honda make cool videos (or bikes...) like that anymore? Between that video with the SR-71 in the background and the Valkyrie rolling through the salt flats, I think you're saying "cool" way more than Honda currently is with the Fury.

Not my cup of tea, but a friend has one. I asked how he convinced his wife to go that route as she rides the pillion and he said hop on it. I have to say, looks can fool you as it is extremely comfortable.  cooldude

As you might guess from my handle, I used to have a Titanium colored XX.  I rode it for 8 years and it was virtually bullet proof.  It was a great bike with plenty of power.  Mine dyno'ed at 138hp with 80 ft-lbs of torque.

I farkled mine with just about every accessory available.  Those Corbin bags in the picture look great and really add to the bike. There's an article in this month's Sport Rider magazine if you're interested in reading more about them.  Go for it.  I'll bet you won't be sorry.   cooldude

Well, I rode a Blackbird today and sure am glad I did. I won't be buying one now. Great machine, powerful, smooth, everything it claims to be is true. I hated it from the second I through my leg over it. Holy uncomfortableness batman!  I was excited to get back on my Valkyrie and apologized to her for talking of selling her. Hell, I've gone throught the rear end, splines, carbs, forks and rear shocks, not to mention performance and chrome stuff. I'd be plumb crazy to sell her. Sometimes you just don't know what you've got cooldude
