I've got one side cover that's missing and the other is in tough shape. I saw an individual on the board here the other day who made a bobber out of his Valkyrie and he bent up his own side covers.

I'm looking for some detail from someone who has done that.

Thanks!

You can get them from pinwall and ebay.  Just an arm and a leg.  The chrome one's cost a firstborn.  I saw the bobber (looked really good) and the side covers looked rather flat not bent at all.  Looks really good with the frame surrounding them.  Might not be too hard to do.  Just wouldn't be the original look.

Actually I did this one, it ain't perfect however it is better that none. Just some sheet metal bent and welded, light coat of bondo and a lot of work.

I've been looking for a left side cover... they seem to be rare as hens' teeth and priced like they're made out of unobtainium...

For the dealer's asking price I could just about buy an injection molding machine and fab extras for us all!

I do a little leatherwork (as a hobby). I've been wondering how to go about making a side cover out of leather. Maybe a better idea would be to bend the sheet metal and then use a combination of bondo and leather for a unique look.

I'll be watching this thread with interest, listening for ideas.

Cyclemax recently started selling plastic chrome sidecovers for goldwings. If they knew there was a market they may be persuaded to make them for Valkyries.

I modified the Corbin Side covers they market to the Standard and Tourer.
One of the pluses of the covers is that there is a pile of room behind them.
Room for extra electronics ...

Best regards,

Glenn

I really like the look of your exhaust headers... They don't look stock. Are they coated?

In answer to the question "I really like the look of your exhaust headers... They don't look stock. Are they coated?"

No, they are just dirty right now.
Those are stock pipes, with shortened piggies and HondaLine Triple Pipe end sections.
This Phat Lady has just over 60,000 miles on her. Lots of riding in the rain, on gravel and other places not meant for pretty bikes. So I'm afraid the 'look' is age related, not makeup.

I'm hoping for another 20 years and 200k more from her before I park her to show small children what really cool motorcycles used to look like.

I hope I age as gracefully.

Best regards,

Glenn
