Does anyone have a spare exhaust stud around they can loan me? I'll pay for overnight shipping and send you the new one I have on order when it gets in!

I'll explain more when I get to my computer!

Tom,  I'd send you one but I'm up in Canada, by the time it gets there it will be winter.

You may want to add your city or state to your profile.  It makes it easier for someone to help ya out if they know where your at.

Good luck and ride safe.

you can drill the hole out a little in the exhaust flange and use a reg. metric bolt cut the head of the bolt off and screw the stud in the head and use a nut on the bottom under the flange. until you get the proper bolt the  flange won't care. I did it on my bike and am still running it that way.

I appreciate the offer Jeff and Chris but I think we've got a solution!

I did some talking with Stormrider (who's been helping me with the CT swap) and I think we're going to roll with an 8mm stud and a nut.  I've got Cobra 6x6's so hopefully I won't have to ream the flange hole but if I do I will.

I was in a hurry because the stud I ordered won't be here until Friday afternoon and I'm supposed to leave on a ride on EARLY Friday morning.  One with a deadline at the end so I can't just postpone it.

3 days into a rear tire swap because of my awesome work schedule!  Hahaha

When I got my STD there was a stud broken, I just used a metric bolt until I obtained new stud. Worked great for the few days I ran it

I got a stupid question for ya.

What the hell ya playing with the exhaust for on a rear tire?

Take the rear shocks off, either raise the rear wheel so the axle is above the exhaust or lower it till it is below the exhaust and pull the axle.    Put it back together the same way.    Loosen and remove the axle nut by the way.

YES, YES, I know the firkin manual says remove exhaust.   THAT IS NOT NEEDED...........

Because the jack adaptor that Stormrider built wont fit with Cobra 6x6 pipes on the left side. To lift the bike and get the axle nut below the right side pipes we had to remove the left side to fit the adaptor.

He built it for stock pipe bikes and it fits those likes glove, though!

for future reference, I found these in the parts bin at the True Value hardware...same 6mm to 8 mm and proper length as the OEM parts.  I was surprised they carried metric stuff, but it was in with all the other size studs.

Pull the shocks. Lift the swing arm above the exhaust for axle removal...
