Decisions, decisions. I'm about to buy a custom tailored sheepskin cover for a stock Corbin seat. But I've also been thinking about replacing the Corbin with an Ultimate.

The Corbin has been on my 98 Standard since I bought it in 2000. But it only has 27,000 miles so it's not like I ride a whole lot. I don't do really long rides. About the most is 400-500 in a day and that's not often.

I'm gonna get a sheepskin either way (for either seat) but I sure ain't gonna get one custom made for the Corbin if I'm gonna get the Ultimate.

Question is... would you think the sheepskin might make the Corbin comfortable enough that there would be no need to switch to the Ultimate?

My IS has gel iserts in the OEM seat. This is nice for fighting off pressure points, but I had problems on hot days getting "monkey butt." The sheepskin cover took care of this problem completely. Between the gel and sheepskin, I'm a very happy rider.

I no longer have a Valk but the Nighthawk that I have has a Corbin Gunfighter seat.  Brick hard, I've tried a sheepskin.  It keeps monkey butt away but does nothing for the hard Corbin seat.

I had a Diamond seat with velour insert on the Valk. It not only kept monkey butt away but it also was really comfortable.  The Diamond is not as popular as the Ultimate.

I just sold my Ultimate BigBoy seat because it was pinching the boys a little much, if you get my drift.  I was going to order an Ultimate King Bigboy, but had heard some good words about Airhawk cushions, so for $125 vs. $850 for the Ultimate, I bought a Airhawk cushion.  I have it on my I/S stock seat, with a sheepskin cover on top of that.  Leaving out for Sturgis Friday morning, so I'll let you know in a couple of days how it does.

I bought a sheep skin pad for the rear seat for Frisco last year. Cost was around $50. On the way we stopped in Durango Co. found a shop selling a full sheep skin for $70. Put it on my stock seat, no problem...

I like my FLUFFY! I've had sheepskin on my bikes since...well, a long time. Cooler in the summer, warmer in the winter and snuggly too!
For the record, I/S stock seat under the sheepskin.

$850 must be for the two seats and 2 backrests.

Ultimate Kingboy on my Standard and can't thank Des and Ultimate enough.

I got my sheepskin from Ikea. Rode to Ontario and back. I'm thinking of getting one for my computer chair now. $39.95.

Thanks for all the help and advice!

One of our members here contacted me by email and I'm possibly going to buy an Ultimate BigBoy set from him.

I'm going to cover it with a sheepskin and sell the Corbin 4 piece set.

All of you will get a laugh from this part because I'm possibly being an idiot on the sheepskin thing. I've looked at them all over the web and found many very inexpensive "models". But I'm buying one from a company that custom tailors them to the particular seat. It's $180.00 bucks for the two seats. Way more than everybody else. But I like the custom fit so I'm paying the tab. Not much different I guess than all the other stuff I buy for it... a lot of which I don't "need".

Wellllll, Here two doors northa hell I have a beaded seat cover. The seat can be in excess of 190 after work.  The beads have a nice effect and let the air flow. Dont like swampy. I notice most of you guys are from northern climes,. I run a sheepskin during the winter and an electric coatliner.
I'm a cold coward. Had enough in the Navy in my misspent youth.
However I didnt think a sheepskin would do here in the summer.

So where'd ya get the beaded seat cover?  Maybe a beaded sheepskin cover with elastic straps?

Hmmm.... I think Early Bird has one and I wish he would chime in on this.

I'm allergic to wool, so sheepskins aren't a good choice for me, but I love my beaded seat from BeadRider.com

This year they had a delux version, so I ordered it.  Didn't take me long to go back to the old style -- the delux is ceramic beads and they get HOT in the sun; the wooden beads don't.

Not only do the beads allow air flow under the butt, they also sit the rider up above the rain that collects in the seat.

OK, guess I will chime in.

Got mine last year at Inzane IX in Frisco, Colorado.  The last day a new vendor showed up marketing a combination sheepskin covered beaded seat cover.  I bought one.  I love it.

http://www.highwaycreations.com/

Best of both worlds combined.  Comfort and air-flow of the beaded seat and the comfort of the sheepskin.  Check it out.  No affiliation, just a satisfied customer.  I have only put 14,000 miles on mine in past year, but I think was money well spent.

Here is a cheap trick - I just run down to the local thrift shop and pickup a ladies black fur coat. Cut out a nice cover big enough so you can tuck the edges in and there you have it. Last one was $9 and it's thicker than the $100+ sheep skins you buy. It does make the ride more comfortable and if it looks like rain just pull it off and toss it in the saddle bags.

Been using sheeps skin on my 'Stang since 07. Nice for the no monkey butt. Hers is getting a little wore and I'm tired of combing it so we bought a whole sheep skin in Deadwood for $59. I might add I really looked like a Hoosier today riding in my bibs with no shirt on underneth, sitting on a sheep.  2funny

I have the Ultimate seats on my 2000 Tourer, and we rode from Daytona to Sturgis and back in 2007 with no problem. But around Florida, the heat was too much, so I got beaded covers. They are great. Good air flow. And the back of my pants aren't soaked when we stop to eat. Now that I am in Philly, I figure I'll take off the beads when the weather cools down.

How often do you get saddle rash?  How often do you go across country?  Can you justify spending that much money when a simple sheep skin for pennies on the dollar would do the same thing?  After riding back from inzane this summer I was getting saddle rash pretty bad when I decided to take one of my dirty shirts from out of my saddle bag, folded it up and sat on it.  Just having that extra cloth between my butt and the vinyl of my seat made the world of difference.  Before buying a $600 seat, try something simple.

Roughriders Leather 653 Main St, Deadwood. You can miss it. The smell of leather brings in your attention. Holsters and belts in the window. Left side of the block going up hill, between the Gem/Mineral Palace and the #10 Saloon. If you go to Mt Rushmore, they have another store in Keystone. The store in Deadwood is closing so they can have one big store. Not closing till the end of the year.

I wear a sheepskin on my Ultimate.  Actually the skin has been on about 5 bikes.

My daughter used to work at the hospital in laundry while in college.

The boss came through and told her to toss a big old box of skins, they use em on patients, in the area where they are pretty much bed ridden..

She asked if she could take a couple home, he told her take all ya want.   Damn I wished I'd of known that before she got off work that day.   Anyway, I still have it and she graduated from college in 1990.
