Now I'm not talking the young at heart, that's a whole other poll. Just curious about our younger riders and maybe how they came to choose the Dragon.

I'll be 28 next week. I imagine I do not represent the "typical" rider on this site. But I'll be interested to see the results of the poll.

32 here. I found myself in a position where I though I would be doing a lot of long-distance riding. So, I traded in the Harley Night Train for my Valk. I chose the Valk because of it's appearance and it's close ties to the Goldwing. And darn near everybody who rides knows what a good reputation the GW has.

I am 41... for 23 more days anyway, and I have had my Valk for a little over 7 years. I guess I was 35 when I started.
I was FAR and AWAY one of the "young guns" back then.

Well, in four months I could have clicked on the last circle, but I am still in excellent health and love to ride with you young whipper-snappers. Just returned from Inzane X, my longest ride to date (3050 Miles). I enjoyed every mile of it. Thanks to everyone here. This is a great bunch!...JTL

Well my age group is the largest thus far which doesn't suprise me. But I bought my Valkyrie at age 48, so I wonder how this poll would have looked 10 years ago. I only looked at 2 bikes in the winter of 99, the Valk and a Roadstar. Thank heavens I got a call from the Honda dealer accepting my offer while I was at the Yamaha shop.

Bought my 2000 I/S new in 2000. Looked at Kawasaki Vulcan and gOld Wings, but the Valkyrie had the best reviews and wasn't a Harley wanna-be. It replaced an '81 gOld Wing Interstate with 88K miles. I still think the Valk is the best bike ever built.
If you'd done this poll 10 years ago, I would have been 10 years younger. That's the only change.

My thoughts about 10 years ago were involving the fact that a lot of Valk riders have come and gone in those 10 years. Of course a lot of Valk riders either don't read or post to the VRCC so nothing scientific about the results anyway. It amazes me how many people comment about the size of the Valkyrie and how they don't think they could handle such a large bike. I never really considered it that big but hey, no 250 Rebel for me .

I reckon the youngin's are in bed now , us old farts can stay up as late as we want! . Yup, some of us gotta work for a living still. No Social Security yet. Being on the younger side of the group, I've only been riding for about 4 years now, and the Valk is my second bike. First one was a Hyosung GV250. She was a great starter bike, but I always intended to move up to a larger cruiser at some point. Doing my research, I had been looking at the VTX line, V Stars, and the rest of the big name cruisers. I came across a Valk searching the classifieds and that was all it really took. Then I came across this site, and you guys were absolutely no help at all in dissuading me from buying this bike. So I bought my Valk in the spring this year and have been loving it ever since. I'm taking her on our first long trip tomorrow, and I can't wait!

I am 32 and now own to valkyries. Four years ago last April was my very first motorcycle. Yeah... this poll wouldn't hold much value but I wonder how many of us in the group (lifetime) has had their first bike as being a valkyrie I/S. Yeah I rode a 82 goldwing for 90 miles and three days later I was picking up a 99 I/S w/ 18k miles on it. I just rolled over 60k this week. I remember on the old board that people were talking about how no one should own one of these bikes until they were 30 because of all the power that us "young uns" wouldn't know how to handle it... I really do enjoy these bikes... but I must say it isn't all about the bike... I have made some very close friendships with a good number of members as well. I got married in February and my wife is slowly understanding how important and amazing this group is to me. After posting and invite and having a few members stop and stay with us prior to the InZane. Well.... I made a bad decision and didn't run it by her prior to posting that on here. Well it all worked out and she looks back and understands that so many of the vrcc members are great folks. She has met a good dozen or so of you guys and she always teases me and says: "Joe, don't you have any friends you like to hang out with that are YOUR age" My reply.... They may look old but I see them as being my age!! I love the "good ole days" stories it makes me realize how well we do have it and it helps keep me grounded. I have met some great people in my life but I have to say I have a few very very special friends that it is an honor to share with all of you. You guys know who you are... Anyhow... Just cause we have some "oldies" in our group lets not throw out AARP or Social security collectors... rather let's call those members "classics" Now I will sit back and watch the polls

A friend of mine decided to stop getting older at 45. Sounded like a good idea to me, so I've been 45 for the last 9 years. Had a Victory V92TC Deluxe for about three years. It was very comfortable going straight 40 mph and faster. It was such a pig at slow speed it was wearing me out on the typical short rides I usually take, with a lot of pulling into quick stops and restaurants. My Valkyrie (tourer) isn't quite as comportable long haul, but there is no comparison in the pull in and pull out riding I typically do. As big as it looks, it feels like a 250 compared to maneuvering the Victory. Have I mentioned to power, and the sound of those six into six pipes?
