I can't remember if you change the belt at 60k or 100k...Thanks

I have an 02 with 62k and my alternator has a slight whine it never had before. I guess I might try and clean it over the winter or just put in a larger aftermarket one.

The book call for them to be inspected at 100,000 miles. I changed mine at 75,000 for piece of mind. Mine is a 99 so I changed them because of the age.

Since Sandman was made in 10/96.  When I do my 50K service in the next couple of months I'll be replacing them for the same reason Warlock did.  Peace of mind due to the age.

follow the manual. remember honda would allow a 7 warranty on these bikes, same as the GL1500s.
subura's have similar setup, belt is enclosed from elements but is subjected to higher underhood temps. Their belts are now rated at 105k. It was either '96 or '97 when EPA regs started the requirement of anything to due with emissions has to be warrantee for 100k miles. '95 suburas have belts rated at 60k. So what belt did I just put on my nephews subaru, the 100k kevlar belt which is actually cheaper than the 60k belt. As far as a I know all 100k belts are of a kevlar construction.
IMHO.

Timing belts on anything today usually look good right up til the time they break.. Most folks do replace them on our monsters more on a time basis than mileage, just for peace of mind..

I changed mine at 20k (7 years old) on the basis that if you are thinking about it you may as well get it done just for peace of mind. After all, it's an easy job and not expensive.

I changed mine at 152,000 miles and nine years.  It looked perfectly good when I took it out.
