Watching a tv interview of an illegal this morning. They were talking about illegals paying taxes, I did not know they could get a job w/o a SS#. The IRS issues them a tax ID# and they can pay income tax and SS. Seemed like a good idea until they stated the IRS will not provide the persons personal info to Immigration. What is up with that?? It seems like the IRS should be enforcing laws, they sure do if they think you are not paying your taxes.

Guess it is a catch 22, want to recoup some of the money we spend on illegals, but open defiance of federal law. The illegal in the interview admitted he was breaking the law by being here and he had the nerve to be on TV doing an interview.

Problem is it is just very hard to become a citizen, to do it properly takes years. I often wonder why not offer free education, teach the new comers English and our laws and allow a quick legal citizenship? Now they will enjoy a better life full of all the freedoms we enjoy plus pay taxes and as a side benefit they will be able to communicate in our language. I have no doubt this arrangement would lead to less crime less discrimination and hatred and we no longer would need to write documentation in 700 languages. Our forests will only prosper as would we.

from what the immigrants i talk to say, all you have to do to become a legal US citizen is to apply.  sure there's a long "waiting" process, maybe that's what they're trying to avoid, knowing that amnisty is always right around the corner......

My assistant is from Spain, he said it was no big deal to get citizenship. His wife is Cuban, they are both against amnesty, are TEA party members.

The problem is more with quotas I believe. I mean if 2/3 of the population signed up for citizenship and it was a simple form... you might as well open the borders.

It's just very hard to get an engineering degree. To do it properly takes years. Why not just issue a free engineering degree to all the "unfortunates" who think it's too hard and takes too long to do it the "right" way... We'd have more engineers, they'd make more money, they will enjoy a better life full of all the freedoms other engineers enjoy, plus pay higher taxes because of their increased income. Engineers still wouldn't be able to speak english, though... But our forests would prosper, the earth would begin to cool, the seas would recede and all the hope and change we were promised would ... er, uh, where was I? What was I saying...??

Oh, nevermind.

Yeah, I think that we all should be able to show up at graduation time and receive the diploma of our choice and then run down to the State Capital and get the appropriate state license to match our diploma.  That way we could all be doctors, lawyers, engineers, pharmacists, etc.  I always wanted to be a lawyer.  Then I could be a congressman or senator.  But wait, why should one go to all that trouble?  Just become a community organizer, then the possibilities would be limitless...JTL  2funny 2funny 2funny

Fun part is when they use your Social Security number, and the IRS comes after you or taxes on your additional income.

According to CNN more than 1 million people were sworn in in 2008. I also found out there is a 55,000 person lottery for citizenship for people from countries who do not send many people to the U.S. That way they don't have to wait in line behind individuals from countries who send us large  groups of people. With those kind of numbers it seems like it can't be that hard to become a citizen.
