If i were going to buy a 12 guage for skeet shooting and didn't want to spend a $1000 what would you but?
Also would you choose an over and under, pump, side by side double or semi auto?
I rode my Valk to the range so it's Valk related now cooldude

Remington auto is about the lightest you can get out when buying a skeet gun that is satisfactory for the job.  Even these get pricey when you buy their "Skeet" version.  If you really get the bug, ammunition can be a big ticket also...JTL

I do nothing more formal than a bunch of friends in a field slinging clays and busting 'em, but I would, and did, scour the pawn shops for a good condition used Remington 1100 for just those purposes...

I love the capacity to fire more than twice before reloading, and the semi auto action takes a LOT of the punishment out of the 12 gauge recoil...

A good condition used one should be in the $500-$600 range...

I  agree, Remington semi auto, 1100, or 11/87.  They should not be to hard to find used ,at any gun store.  Is there a Cabellas near you? they have a real good selection of used guns.

I'd recommend the 1100 or 11/87, UNLESS you can find an over/under in your price range. In any case I'd also try to go with a barrel that has a rib and a sight midway down the rib, as well as above the muzzle.

Shooting skeet and trap is really all about how the gun fits you.

Talk to your buds and try several different styles and types, to see what shoots best for you.

I would look for a good used Browning Citori.  Should be able to find one for less than 1K
