After 70,400 miles I finally fell over (while stopped) with my wife on the back (1st time). I did put it down at a stop light while solo a few years ago, when i put my foot down in a road dip.
I backed in a gravel driveway to reverse direction, it was also slightly downhill, I just lost my footing.
Thank God my wife did not get hurt, her right hip/bum hit first then she fell on her back, finally bumping her (helmeted) head on the ground.
The helmet is a few months old "Symax" and it seems fine even checking the foam inside under the liner, but we still will have it looked at professionally too.

PS: On my first (solo) tip over I was able to pick up my Valkyrie (myself) having studied the pictures and writeup by the woman that goes around the country showing people how to pick up their downed bikes.
But this time I could not get the footing to push her up, I think the the down hill slope not only to the rear but also to the right side as well - beat me. ( Or could it be that I just turned 68 yrs old ? )  Roll Eyes
Finally a nice couple stopped and helped me stand her up. They told us of their daughter who recently had a minor, non-injury accident with her motorcycle.

Whatever it is, it's better in the wind.

On a road less traveled.

The first time I dropped my bike while tootling around a gravel parking lot and hit a curb my wife picked my bike up while I stood and cussed at it.

The last time I slid in a little mud on a shady driveway. Luckily I landed in the soft mud so nothing was hurt. This time I picked the bike right up and was able to hop back on and take off. Valks really do pick up easier than you'd expect, as long as it is laying right. Battling a gravely hill to pick it up doesn't sound like any fun.

I'm glad you're okay and that you're wife is fine.

Ken, glad you and Mrs. are ok. I will not go into a graveled lot, off camber hill or anything else that looks unsafe for my 29" inseam.  Roll Eyes Plus, I had Polio as a child and right leg is not as strong as I would like it to be.  Cry

Broke my straw on my cup holder when that happened to me... Angry
And cracked the fairing. But I learned I could fix and paint it myself. So worked out good.
Gravel and inclines are not my friends....
But the buddies with me had a good time picking it up. Shocked

I've already joined that club.

Sometimes I wish they made Beano for the brain.

Pulled a good one day lastd spring.  Beautiful day for a ride...headed for beach road 30A and maybe a ride by the Outpost...gonna make the circle all the way around Choctawhatchee bay...couldn't ask for better weather for the Panhandle of Florida.

Wallet was a little low, so before leaving town and starting the ride out with the wife on board, made a pit-stop at the Credit Union ATM for some dough.

Pulled up in the parking lot, pulled off the gloves and fiddled with the wallet, leaned the bike over to dismount.....with wife still on the bike.....and then.....here it comes.......FORGOT TO PUT THE KICKSTAND DOWN.

Funny how things like this always happen in slow-motion.

No damage to the wife....she was fine.  No damage to the bike....it was fine...not even a scratch.

My ego however, has suffered irreputable harm....not to mention the slight sprain to my left ankle from trying to prevent escaping brain flatulence.

Good thing she had a sense of humor.

I'm pretty sure that more than a few of us have done this before.  Makes me wonder about all of those for sale ads where they say "never been dropped".

btw....Don't even ask me about leaving a lift adapter on the bike.   uglystupid2

OK, BF. I have to ask!
"btw....Don't even ask me about leaving a lift adapter on the bike."

I just ordered an adapter off of eGay. Claims it stays on the bike. What gives? Embarrassed

Regardless, I should be safe, as that thingymajiggy will never get installed, anyway. I mean - how do you remove the side-stand while the bike is on the sidestand? uglystupid2
