That's a nice loop, if I lived a little closer I'd join ya.  I grew up in Dillon but moved to Oregon quite a few years ago, had the pleasure of passing through the old stompin' grounds a couple of weeks ago.

They were stopping trafffic for road work right on the summit of Beartooth when I went through, it was 48 degrees and the wind was blowing hard enough to lay the temporary work sign (the kind with the big coil springs) flat on the ground.  A little brisk for a flatlander, the weatherman said the low was 35 degrees when I stayed in Bozeman and didn't get out of the fifties all the way through the Pintlar scenic byway past Anaconda.  Felt alright especially after just leaving Moab and the desert temps in the 90's.

Have a great ride and post some pics cooldude

Riding the Beartooth is breathtaking. The road construction just makes it cooler since it gives you a chance to look around a little more. Try to find time for the Buffalo Bill/Firearms museum in Cody. We only had a couple of hours to spend there but I'm sure glad we did so. A trip down the elevator to see the firearms in the basement is worth it too.

I went over Beartooth in thick cloud.  Cry

Not a view to be seen all the way from 296 to the other side of the mountains.

A very exciting ride at about 20 mph all the way.

When I went out there I kept wondering why
I had packed my chaps and heavy coat.
I soon got my answer. When we stated it was 89 then
it went to 41 at the pass.

Now you've done it, reminiscing and posting pics Wink

Ski hill at Red Lodge.  Attending college at MSU eons ago, we took a skiiing trip here in my roommate's old Maverick with no heat, the snow was so deep we ripped off the exhaust and had to drive with the windows down to keep from getting fumigated, umm BRRR.  Of course no alcohol was involved angel

Beartooth

Between Beartooth and Dead Indian Pass

These guys came rock and rolling by but musta got distracted by the scenery and had a little offroad excursion at the bottom of the pass. No apparent injuries but a mighty rocky get off for nothing twixt your cranium and the ground but a hanky. Shocked

Just a little ways down the road from Cody, the Meeteetse Chocolatier is a rodeo cowboy selling gourmet chocolate using his Grandma's recipe.  YUMMY cooldude

I'll see if I might join you, would be a great trip.  Did most of that route just before Inzane X.  I'll be coming up from Ogden UT.  PM sent.  I'll be in touch.
