When I push the starter button all the way in it won't start. If I push it half way in it starts normal. New starter button assembly cost $98. Looking for a less expensive solution?

While you're at it, do the mod that adds a relay in the headlight circuit. Takes a high amp load off that start switch, you won't have the same problem crop up again.

Another thought....have you installed higher wattage headlight bulbs? That increases the amp load even more, which in turn increases the possibility of burning the internal contacts in the switch.

A friend of mine had that same problem would start, then not start.  When we took his apart the little brass foot thing was stuck down into the plastic and it was so tight the spring under it was not strong enough to push it up to where it makes the conection with the four contacts.

If that brass thing doesnt spring up and down you are going to have to carefully free up its movement and get the spring back to life.  I fussed with his for awhile and I think I could have got it working, but he was late for work, so I put my spare in there.  just be careful you dont loose the tiny parts
