For some people, a motersickle (even a Valk) is considered a luxury
item....like a boat, project car, etc. As for me, I put more miles on
my Valk in a year than I do on my Jeep and F150 combined. Also,
some folks have more than one ride and one's gotta go. Sad

Not just Valks....all bikes and other "toys" as well.  It is the economy.

I have talked to a number of people getting rid of their Valks. Most I talked to were or had become occasional riders. Some had moved on to Wings or downsized to lighter, easier to handle bikes. Hopefully the new owners will find us and continue the resurgence in interest in the VRCC

As a fairly new Valk owner, in my case, being able to afford the bike was because of the down economy. The PO of my bike was needing $ for financial obligations, plus he hadn't even registered the Valk in 4 years, let me get into it for much less than prices I'd seen in previous years.  I'd always desired one, but had to settle for the much more prolific 'wings.

Now I get to finish bringing this black & yellow fat bottom girl into condition. Just a new front tire away....

Same here. I've been looking and wanting for a couple of years. This was just too good a deal to pass up.
It's funny though. I just did a blog talking about seeing fewer Valks on craig's list and a few other places I was watching. Another reason I jumped is because I didn't want to mess around a wait until there weren't any. Valks are like land. "They ain't making any more!" Despite a temporary fluctuation brought on by a bad economy, I still think that if you want a Valk, it's getting close to now or never.

Thanks, Mr B. Got the new Metzler front mounted at the stealer today. FBG should be ready for some miles, now. New timing belts, fork seals, tires, brakes, final splines & shaft serviced... the rest is cleaning up the rust spots on some after market chrome. But heck, I'm like D.M, I'd rather ride than wipe.   Grin

Now, if the boss (not wifey) would understand riding vs selling drilling equipment.

It sounds like you got her headed in the right direction with all your maint. I trust you also change all your fluids and did the driveshaft  and pinion cup clean and lube. I missed that on mine when I bought it with 59K on it and I stripped the cup out on the way to work one morning. I ride a red & black interstate so if you see a fat man on R/B interstate  give us a wave. cooldude

If you are riding  and it is a must that you keep your eyes on the road, you are riding too fast.

Yeah... that red & black sure is pretty... ya'll gonna give me an inferiority complex with all that shiny chrome.   Grin

But I love this black & yellow standard. I did put a windshield on it, these night time 'tater bugs around here hurt.

So, watch for another fat old guy riding, many days between New Caney & Humble, where the office is.
