If the emails were coming from PayPal, I would check the status of that account too. Sounds like they might have gotten into both.

Patrick had fradulant charges on our checking account via his debit card that was attached to his iTunes account not too long ago. Only to to the tune,,,get it,,,,of about $78.00. He didn't get any help from iTunes customer service, that was a joke, getting the funds refunded. We were lucky enough that our bank charged back the charges to iTunes and credited our account. We have both disabled our iTunes accounts and will NEVER buy anything from iTunes using our debit card or credit card again. Just sayin'

Are you an organ, tissue and eye donor for your state? Did you know one person can save or enhance the lives of up to 75 people. The # of people waiting for organs in the US would overflow the University of Michigan football stadium. It's the biggest in the country. Will seat over 109,000.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caning_in_SingaporeJust try to overstay your welcome in Singapore and they will cane your @ss..... "Offences punishable by caning Singaporean law allows caning to be ordered for over 30 offences, including robbery, gang robbery with murder, drug use, vandalism, and rioting.[3] Caning is also a mandatory punishment for certain offences such as rape and drug trafficking, and for visiting foreigners who overstay their visa by more than 90 days, a measure designed to deter illegal immigrant workers.[4]"

I'm sorry it happened to you. Below is some useful information for managing online accounts: The best way to protect yourself from online fraud and identity theft is not to leave your financial information in the hands of others. You've probably heard or read the following tips before, but now it's more important than ever to implement them. Use a passphrase and not a password. For example, "This is my passw0rd and 1t's for my use only!" and "Purple ducKs run awkWardly" are good passphrases; they make a sentence that's either nonsensical or would never be obvious to a hacker. Add capital letters, numbers, special characters, and (where allowed) spaces to enhance your passphrase. iTunes, for instance, would not allow me to use a space within my passphrase. Don't leave credit cards attached to online sites or services. Leaving a credit card number in a vendor's database for automatic, recurring payments is enticingly convenient, but its security is no longer in your hands. If possible, have just one credit card that you use only for online purchases. If its number is stolen, you can cancel it with minimal impact on your daily, necessary purchases. Review your account reset information. Know how to reset your sign-in information quickly so that thieves cannot easily use your online habits or social-sites data to take over your account by resetting it to their own password and ID, as happened to me. Regularly review your online transactions, both in your online banking account and in paid sites and services you've recently used. In the case of iTunes, it can take up to 48 hours for a transaction confirmation e-mail to land in your inbox. Susan Bradley Windows Secrets newsletter 7/8/2010

After further review, this is definitely an iTunes screwup. They have had a rash of scammers selling bogus applications through their store, and Apple doesn't want to draw too much attention to it. Carolyn, the guy on the phone at Apple last night was uninterested. "Send us an email about your problem" was his basic answer. Although paypal has issues, to their credit they are working with me to get this resolved, as is my bank. Apple/iTunes seems to be the only folks ducking the resposibility, and it all happened in THEIR site. My bank assures me I'll get every cent back, but in the meantime I have to put up with the temporary loss of this cash.
Steamer, I'm with you bud. My wife is from Singapore and she's ready to set this guy's laptop on fire... while it's in his lap!
Apple makes decent stuff, but their customer relations (and IT security).... poop city.

A few weeks ago, I received an email with a receipt for an iTunes purchase which I did not make. I checked the account and immediately cancelled the credit card. What was frustrating is that you cannot immediately deactivate your iTunes account like you can with other things like Facebook. You have to send them an email which they will answer within two days.
I am fairly certain the credit card company got their money back from Apple as I did not have to pay the fraudulent charges.
My son works for Apple, and it is a great company to work for, but they did not protect the iTunes accounts very well as I have heard of multiple accounts being compromised.

yep.....if criminals over here were subject to this kind of punishment, I'd think they'd maybe think twice about committing their crimes.......the DW of our camp said that the discipline in the Singapore prisons was MUCH better than over here.....that'd be a deterrent for me!!

I think we could come up with enough bamboo to make it work..... I read an acct of an American Soldier on leave in one of those countries that has canings take one instead of time in jail....thinking it would be like a "bad spanking".....he said he had to have medical treatment and sleep on his stomach for a LONG time afterwards...

Just got off the phone with my CC company. Apparently somebody got my number from iTunes and tried racking up several thousand $$$ worth of charges in the Apple store.
I asked the person how many charges he saw, and he said "several pages worth - probably 50 or 60". Each one was for just over $100.
Anybody with an iTunes account should pay close attention to their CC bills.

never bought anything from i-tunes and never will but..............i'll start growing cane if it will help You need to grow rattan, a species of palm tree that is very slender and is used in making furniture. For caning purposes, the rattan is cut to about a 4 foot length, split on the end, and soaked in water. http://www.corpun.com/singfeat.htm
