It was $100.00 now $200.00 I'm like you I could buy a $100.00 worth of chrome but $200.00 I have to do more planning sometimes it's worth it sometimes it's not. Smiley

Costs going up, they're probably looking to have sales to stimulate their business, but without raising their prices, they don't want to ruin their profit/sustainability margin. Product of the times more than anything. Or atleast that would be my guess.

Dad had a customer call complain about his prices. He makes air compressor discharge tubes for the aircompressor plant. Anyway, copper prices are falling, so the customer wanted to see a drop in the price per piece (production and shipping costs have remained constant luckily).  So Dad called his supplier. They were on a price fixed schedule that did not fluctuate with the copper prices. That had always been easiest. Now Dad has had to leave that fixed price for the slightly lower fluctuating price. He was able to reduce the price to the costumer. However, in about a month, the price is going to start swinging up. And Dad will either have to raise his price with copper (which will probably not make the customer happy) or find some other place to cut costs (that's not going to make the employees happy).
In a better economy he would have just told the compressor plant that was the way it was and not to worry about it. Now he's getting creative to make them happy to keep them. And that will catch up with him.

I wasn't a business major. I can barely spell business. buisiness. something like that.

The only economy I know about is the one that helps or hurts his business. The production side follows the economy trend.  When people are making money the buy compressors so the plant buys parts. The tool repair part of his company is actually oppisite. In good years people buy replacement tools rather than fixing tools so his business slows down.

That's why it's best to plan ahead on purchases and get the most for your money......   like getting a spare set of tires, some oil/filters and cleaning stuff, spare wheel bearing, or whatever all at once.  Saves some in the long run.   Actually.... the logo on HDL/DLP website says FREE SHIPPING ON ALL ORDERS.... but any order under 199.00 is a 7.50 handling charge.

You used to be able to get a 10percent discount as a Bike Builder or from HDL/DLP anytime you spent a grand.  Probably still applies.

Some of the guys around here would pool our orders to meet the minimum, worked well till everybody started selling their bikes. I'm currently the only Honda rider in our group.
