Have you heard about a great deal from a commercial vendor?
5.) We would prefer to keep the boards free of blatant advertising.  That said, one of the great things about the boards, is to be able to share information with one another.  We encourage product reviews and opinions.  If you happen upon a deal from a commercial enterprise, please  contact  the VRCC Support Staff at vrccstaff@gmail.com before posting any offer, as we have had some commercial enterprises abuse this and undermine our paying sponsors.

6.)  Commercial Vendors:
The Classifieds:  Not for commercial use.  Period.
The Message Boards:  Not for commercial use.  Period.
If you (a Vendor or Company) have a special deal you'd like to share or offer to our members, please do not post it on the message board.  The boards are not for advertising.  If you wish to advertise on the VRCC Message Boards, Home page or other VRCC pages, contact  the VRCC Support Staff at vrccstaff@gmail.com

Above is the listing from “Rules of the Road”. Since my posting for my Rytek Tips up for auction was locked and the link removed, I am writing for clarification.

According to item 5, you should contact the Support Staff before posting commercial enterprise information. So, what happens when someone asks another member about a part on their bike? Should the part owner NOT tell them where they got it from, as answering the question could “abuse this and undermine our paying sponsors.” This goes on ALL THE TIME and I don’t ever remember seeing the reply deleted or the post locked.

Secondly, I am NOT a commercial entity. I am a member who has chosen the open market of auction vs. classified ad to offer ONE item to the other members. I am NOT in business selling Rytek Tips or other items to the membership. Therefore, where do I fall in the guidelines? If I wanted to bring attention to my auction, is that allowed on the Classified site? Again, I am NOT a “Commercial” entity, just a guy who wants to sell my Rytek Tips through auction. Where can I let the full membership know I have these available?

Not trying to make waves, just want to get clarification….

Thanks,

Nick

If you don't realize why, then I seriously doubt any explanation I give is going to do much good.

This is one thing our staff has been very consistent on for many years.  You just can't promote your ebay auctions on our site.  Now, if someone had asked where they could find some Rytek tips, you might mention you have some up for auction on ebay(no links tho!).  That we would probably let slide, but when you start a thread, specifically linking to your auction....well, thats over the line.  Oh, then you get upset because someone suggests an alternative to YOUR auction?  Come on bro.

The simple fact is, you were not posting the auction here as a service to other members.  You were posting the link to profit from the auction.  You got your free advertising, be happy and roll on.

All further posts on the subject will be removed.
