I threw something at the calendar and it stuck, but we can scrape it off if need be.

I put the wrench party on for Saturday, September 11, anticipating my house as the location.  We don't have to hold to this date or day, but Saturday is better for me than Sunday.  I'll change to accomodate those who can't make Saturday, if that's the group concensus.  Heck, it doesn't even have to be at my place...

I hate the way some people shamelessly use this board to promote the charity of their choice.....but I'll be at the Cooper Center on Saturday, September 11th for the second annual Run Proud for Dessert! http://www.runproud.org/

It's a short 5K and only costs $20.00 if you sign up now. Would love to see several Valk riders out there with me!  Wink

So....A Sunday wrench party would work better for me......

Valkpilot,

Sunday's are always better for me. Most of the time I have to work Saturday's, and Sunday's but if they give me a day off it will be on a Sunday. I never know what my weekend schedule will be until the Thursday before the weekend. That's when they put out the O/T schedule.         Angry

I could probably make either day.....and am excited it will be my first wrench party.  What are the rules?  Can we bring anything....or do you pick one part of the bike...like suspension to work on?

Things I want to upgrade/inspect:
Progressive shocks...front and rear.
Kuryakin Grips
Throttle Lock
Inspect the rear end for any issues
Relocate highway pegs
Possibly change oil....

Later.

I think i can make either day.

RULES, WE DON'T NEED NO STINKIN RULES! Hell we shredded the bylaws.

Sometimes we pick a theme, sometimes it's a free for all.

I think there are a couple of rear ends that are ready to be ripped apart, so that might be a good one to play with. I know there are a couple of us that need to do the headlight relay and a couple that would like 4 way flashers. Might be a good idea to build some more valk lift adapters.

Those who are attending, if you want to do something requiring a lift, be sure to speak up so we can make sure and get them up there.

Progressive front springs is a wrench party in it's self and special tools are needed.
Inspecting the rear end could turn out to be a single wrench party event.
Everything else is doable in a single wrench party.
Like Ghile said no rules....just wrenching!
Hope to see you there! cooldude

Well, even if nothing gets done to my bike, I'd be content to simply observe and learn. Still trying to find out as much as I can about the ol girl and I think the wrench party would be good for that. Not to mention I finally get to meet some more of the club.

Heck Yeah!
Everyone is invited to the wrench parties. You can work on your bike, help someone else, or just take up space.
Hope to see you there!

Chili season is going to be here before we know it. That this might help you get ready and try some different recipes. LOL

If you can read this whole story without laughing, then there's no hope for you. I was crying by the end. This is purported to be an actual account as relayed to paramedics at a chili cook-off in Texas. (Yeah right. An actual account. Probably written by a Chupicabra.)

Note: Please take time to read this slowly. If you pay attention to the first two judges, the reaction of the third judge is even better. Texans know how true this is. We actually have a Chili Cook-off about the time Halloween comes around. It takes up a major portion of a parking lot at the San Antonio City Park .

Judge #3 was an inexperienced Chili taster named Frank, who was visiting from Pittsburg, PA. (Snyder country)
Here are the scorecard notes from the event:

CHILI # 1  MIKE'S MANIAC MONSTER CHILI
Judge # 1  A little too heavy on the tomato. Amusing kick.
Judge # 2  Nice, smooth tomato flavor. Very mild.
Judge # 3 (Frank)  Holy crap, what the hell is this stuff? You could remove dried paint from your driveway. Took me two beers to put the flames out. I hope that's the worst one. These Texans are crazy.

CHILI # 2  AUSTIN 'S AFTERBURNER CHILI
Judge # 1  Smoky, with a hint of pork. Slight jalapeno tang.
Judge # 2  Exciting BBQ flavor, needs more peppers to be taken seriously.
Judge # 3  Keep this out of the reach of children. I'm not sure what I'm supposed to taste besides pain. I had to wave off two people who wanted to give me the Heimlich maneuver. They had to rush in more beer when they saw the look on my face.

CHILI # 3  FRED'S FAMOUS BURN DOWN THE BARN CHILI
Judge # 1  Excellent firehouse chili. Great kick..
Judge # 2  A bit salty, good use of peppers.
Judge # 3  Call the EPA I've located a uranium spill. My nose feels like I have been snorting Drano. Everyone knows the routine by now. Get me more beer before I ignite. Barmaid pounded me on the back, now my backbone is in the front part of my chest. I'm getting shitfaced from all of the beer.

CHILI # 4  BUBBA'S BLACK MAGIC
Judge # 1  Black bean chili with almost no spice. Disappointing.
Judge # 2  Hint of lime in the black beans. Good side dish for fish or other mild foods, not much of a chili.
Judge # 3  I felt something scraping across my tongue, but was unable to taste it. Is it possible to burn out taste buds? Sally, the beer maid, was standing behind me with fresh refills. This 300 lb. woman is starting to look HOT . just like this nuclear waste I'm eating! Is chili an aphrodisiac?

CHILI # 5  LISA'S LEGAL LIP REMOVER
Judge # 1  Meaty, strong chili. Cayenne peppers freshly ground, adding considerable kick. Very impressive.
Judge # 2  Chili using shredded beef, could use more tomato. Must admit the cayenne peppers make a strong statement.
Judge # 3  My ears are ringing, sweat is pouring off my forehead and I can no longer focus my eyes.. I farted, and four people behind me needed paramedics.. The contestant seemed offended when I told her that her chili had given me brain damage. Sally saved my tongue from bleeding by pouring beer directly on it from the pitcher. I wonder if I'm burning my lips off. It really ticks me off that the other judges asked me to stop screaming. Screw them.

CHILI # 6  VERA'S VERY VEGETARIAN VARIETY
Judge # 1  Thin yet bold vegetarian variety chili. Good balance of spices and peppers.
Judge # 2  The best yet Aggressive use of peppers, onions, garlic. Superb.
Judge # 3  My intestines are now a straight pipe filled with gaseous, sulfuric flames. I crapped on myself when I farted, and I'm worried it will eat through the chair. No one seems inclined to stand behind me except that Sally. Can't feel my lips anymore. I need to wipe my butt with a snow cone.

CHILI # 7  SUSAN'S SCREAMING SENSATION CHILI
Judge # 1  A mediocre chili with too much reliance on canned peppers.
Judge # 2  Ho hum, tastes as if the chef literally threw in a can of chili peppers at the last moment. **I should make note that I am worried about Judge # 3. He appears to be in a bit of distress as he is cursing uncontrollably.
Judge # 3  You could put a grenade in my mouth, pull the pin, and I wouldn't feel a thing. I've lost sight in one eye, and the world sounds like it is made of rushing water. My shirt is covered with chili, which slid unnoticed out of my mouth. My pants are full of lava to match my shirt. At least during the autopsy, they'll know what killed me. I've decided to stop breathing it's too painful. Screw it; I'm not getting any oxygen anyway. If I need air, I'll just suck it in through the 4inch hole in my stomach.

CHILI # 8  BIG TOM'S TOENAIL CURLING CHILI
Judge # 1  The perfect ending, this is a nice blend chili. Not too bold but spicy enough to declare its existence.
Judge # 2  This final entry is a good, balanced chili. Neither mild nor hot. Sorry to see that most of it was lost when Judge #3 farted, passed out, fell over and pulled the chili pot down on top of himself. Not sure if he's going to make it. Poor feller, wonder how he'd have reacted to really hot chili?
Judge # 3  No Report

I think there are a couple of rear ends that are ready to be ripped apart . .

. . ESPECIALLY if you criticize the Host!  2funny

Like Godfire said, you might wanta focus on just a couple of things.  Some of your projects on your wish list are pretty involved and might require the whole day.

The visualization of Judge #3's reactions to the different Chili recipes was overwhelming!

I have a couple of minor things to do, but if the focus turns to more involved projects I'll bring my lift & adapter and be ready to help.

I plan on getting there around 10:00. Disco, I want to draw a schematic of the Rumblebee's electrical mods, so I can start working on a four-way flasher fix.

Well I don't know it will make the wrench party or not, I hope so. But I've been doing a little work on the fat lady, as I have time and money. I just got the stopper brake LED. And I have a new windshield ordered the F4 extra tall and extrawide, it should be in in a week or so. And I would also like the headlight relay mod.
I also need some directions and address so I can put it on my calendar. Thank you guys hope to see you soon.

Since nobody in the Llano Estacado has wrench sessions, I would like to come to DFW area for a wrench session. But, Sunday sessions are out. I need that day to ride back.
I would like to tune and balance the carbs and replace the wheel bearings front and rear.  If we have a cold wet winter, I will probably do the front wheel bearings and replace the rear using the bearing mod.  Last year there was only 20 days in a row where I could not ride, otherwise I could ride a couple of times a week.

Good News! We alternate between Saturday and Sunday on the first weekend of the month. Ride for Kids will interfere with the October wrench party but keep checking in.....We'll have one on a Saturday soon.....and you are more than welcome!

GreenLantern, I'm waiting for the same thing. I live in Pampa. I need to replace fork seals and stuff (not sure what all needs replaced) and install Progressive springs. I have the fork tool. Maybe we can go down there at about the same time. I also have a carb sync tool.

Thanks godfire, I will be watching!

Valker, still doing the Motorcycle Safety courses?  I have the silver 97 with red flames!

I see several Valks here in Amarillo, but we seem to be the only 2 active in the Panhandle.

I would like to get a group ride to Canadian for the Fall Foilage weekend. Third weekend in Oct.  My wife and I went last year and the ride was beautiful. Drove up 60 and went down to Wheeler where we took some back roads to McLean. This time I would like to take the back road down to Lake McLelland. I used to work for Phillips and had that area to work out of.
My brother-in-law lives there, bet I could talk him into firing up the grill and cooking for us.

Dave, another motorcycle class instructor at the College, also rides his Valk daily.
The weekend of the 16th of October is NOT a work weekend for me, but that is the weekend my wife and I are going to a swim meet for my Daughter in Odessa.
Maybe we can get together sometime soon. Dave, also, wants to do some work on his Valk. cooldude

I ride a motorcycle because nothing transports me as quickly from where I am to who I am.
