I've just completed my longest ride since my surgey last May. Damselfly and I had planned to ride for a total of maybe 30-40 miles today, but to my surprize Hyper Dave and his wife Fran along with Tony Z and his wife, Little Z showed up at about 11:00 AM and they said that they were here to support my (riding) recovery.

They had me lead the group, at my pace and at whatever length that I felt comfortable with.

We started on E N Hines Parkway where there was a breast cancer awareness walk. And as hard as I tried, the women just would not show us their assets that were we are supposed to be so aware of.

We then stopped at a local Coney Island for lunch/brunch, then proceeded to explore some roads south of our more familiar riding areas as they are less crowded and yet interesting enough to warrant a group ride.

We were surrouded by cornfields, beanfieilds, acres of tomatoes and orchards. Amonst all this agriculture you would have guessed that we could find at least one produce stand, but it was not to be.

The weather was.......HOT, and we were getting quite dehydrated when we happened upon a Mickey D's. All soft drinks and ice tea for a buck,...and all you could consume at one sitting,...thats a deal in my way of thinking. And clean restrooms to releive ones self and wash the bugs and dirt from your face.

Hyper Dave and his lovely wife suggested that we ride over to their house on the island and they would cook supper. Thats an offer that is hard to refuse, even if you are not famished.

After dinner we all parted ways but, I was reminded of how good friends and good riding can be the best medicine. Not just for me, but all of us felt that this is real therapy for the soul.

All in all it was about 100 miles for me and my wife. Many more miles are now in my future and I hope that riding with our other freinds and members has that same healing effect.

That's great!  Nothing like the wind in your face (hot or otherwise) to speed up recovery.
I'm really glad for you.

I hope to do the same next year and with my friends also.

I had hoped to get in the wind today also, only on the Chevy Trike.

Back was having some muscle spasms yesterday, like 1 every 5 to 6 hours.  NO problem.

Well, this morning is was a BIG problem.     Can't set, can't walk without the walker, can only lay down for about 45 minutes, then have to crawl out on the floor and get up from there.   YES, it do smart, glad I'm wearing DEPENDS..   LOL   crazy2 tickedoff .

Dug around  and found some old muscle relaxers, took one and I'm getting a little relief.   If it keeps helping, I'll run up to the emergency care, it is my Dr's afternoon to be on duty.  Easiest way I know of to get in and see him.  He has 1 hell of a daily load of his own patients.   Takes 3 to 4 weeks to get an appointment otherwise.
