I was getting away froma tailgater last week, and as I turned and rapidly accelerated, I stretched the RPM's into the upper 4's low 5's maybe, (possibly a little higher..) and just before I shifted from 2nd to 3rd, the engine choked or faltered, however you might describe it. I eased back on the throttle and it recovered, but it was a little unsettling at best.
Any ideas..?

Things happen fast when you're in first or second gear.

Yep, you could have very well hit the rev limiter [appr 7200rpm] since you were still in 2nd.. Try and see if it happens again while in 3rd or 4th.. If it happens in the higher gears then you could have a fuel delivery issue,, if it runs good,, then run it and don't worry about it..

If you didn't hit the rev limiter it is the petcock. Do a leak down test on it just to be sure. (pull vacuum on the vacuum port...it should hold).
