Just picked up a nice set of Interstate saddlebags for my standard. Now the paint project  Undecided
Has anyone put tourer saddlebag hinges on Interstate bags or know if they are interchangeable?
If so, anyone adding a trunk and want to swap hinges?  Smiley

Also, is there any demand for the nice Valkyrie leather bags?

I have only owned Interstates and am new to the standard, but liking it!!!!!!

The bag latches are interchangeable, just order the parts you need from HDL.

The hinges on the I/S are different because the trunk is in the way if the lid pivots up to open. That is why they are lifted and set to the side. You can install Tourer hinges but it is not advised.
On a Standard it does not matter which way the lid opens

Like Jess said, get the parts from HDL and do it.
There is no issue with changing the hinges. Get a thin stainless cable to hold the lids just like on a Tourer.
You'll like those bags.

Your leather bags look better than mine, have you set a price on them? I might be interested.   bogator@live.com

Thanks for the input guys, I was hoping the tourer hinges would work, seems they would be much more convenient than hanging the lid over the side as on the I/S.

Haven't decided what I will do with the leather ones yet.  Undecided

The leathers should sell pretty easily. I had two sets for my Standard and, after it was totaled, I sold both sets pretty quickly for what I paid for them.

Hobo, I have a standard and have a trunk on it. When I put the hard bags on it the lids would hit the trunk and would not open far enough to really be useful. I took the hinge apart and machined the loop from a circle to half a circle which makes it a hook effect. Latched the hinge looks like a regular hinge. Open the latch, raise the lid, and slide it forward and remove the lid. Works great for me.

I have Interstate hardware on my Tourer saddlebags on my Standard.  I know, I know...  I did this specifically so I can take the lids completely off to load/unload.

I have I/S hinges on my tourer. Love them. I didn't do the cable thing. The good thing about the i/s hinges vs the tourer is that I can take the lid completly off. I have lid racks and when loaded the tourer hinges sucked. Loaded lids now I just unlock and lift off and set aside.
Makes it nice cause I can fill the saddle bag full of beer and ice and not worry about having the lid in the way.  crazy2 Just kidding about that.
