I did not watch your video you posted yet.

But one line is like a snow ball rollin down a hill headed for hell.

No the good times ain't over, we make those times ourselves and no one can take that  away but us.

The people are about to set things aright, a quoate from Outlaw Josey Wales.

Don't worry Stanley they is good people in this here land called America and we will be better than

Ok , we will be on top again just you wait and see.

Where people lack vision they perish, a little faith, a little hard work, and some common sense

we can whip this beast we call progressiveness and political correctness.

I am sad to think...the good times are truly over  Cry I wish my kids could experience the things I did when I was young. Unfortunately, they will never have the opportunity. The world is just too different, and not for the better.

on the evening news everytime he changes his socks.

Instability is the enemy right now and that my friend is about to change.

I'm just a "youngun" here compared to a lot of you guys......I remember the days before computers, cell phones and such and when you actually respected your elders......about the time I graduated from High School in 1988....it seemed things started going downhill fast....one parent homes where no one was there to look after the kids when they got home from school because the parent had to work to support them all took it's toll on the whole family......I grew up poor, but at least I had two parents around for most of my childhood that actually cared enough to keep me straight and whip my @ss when I needed it without having someone call the law on them for "abuse"....you could leave the doors unlocked at night and leaves the keys in your car without someone taking off in it.....at least that's how it was where I grew up......

My Dad always told my teacher on the first day of class each year to whip my butt if I got into trouble and to tell him about it and he'd whip me when i got home.....I NEVER got a single spanking in school....I respected the teachers/principals back then.....kids today.....well, not ALL of them, but a lot of them know you can't do a thing to them without ending up being fired/sued.....the Wife and I decided NOT to bring a child into this screwed up world........that's my .01cent...... cooldude

I got my ass beat with "paddles from hell" when I was in school. I recall one science teacher that had a paddle about 24" x 6" with 1" holes drilled in it. When he lit a student up, it felt as though you left the ground. We always deserved it though, we would do something stupid like most kids do. I also recall it being true that if you "got it at school", it was twice as bad when you got home. If that happened today, the teacher would be dragged away to jail.....and the parent would be screaming for his/her job. Where did we go wrong?

Our industrial arts teacher made his own paddles like you described....NO one wanted to get lit up by him, but some of my other buddies would do something to get a paddling EVERYDAY from one of the football coaches....and nary an eyebrow was raised from the parents.....I think it was because they knew AND we knew that if you got an ass whooping, you most likely deserved it!!..... cooldude

The Hippies of that day are in charge now.

It will not get better till we straighten up ourselves and using the common sense God Gave US.

When we call good bad and evil good,,,,,,,, what do you think the result will be.

Spanking a Child is BAD and Letting him or her do whatever pops into that Gourd is GOOD.

Is one example.

As John Boy, of John Boy and Billy show says,, Duh Huh.

For the sake of my sons and grandchildren, I hope you are wrong, and wish that Big Al has a crystal ball!  Smiley

While it will never be the way it was, (it never is) we still have it pretty good compared to about 95% of the world. Now if our so called "Leaders" in government will stop F***ing things up, we may have a chance yet. I'm sure you guys have noticed that every era has it's own "Good Old Days". And that is true, but this generation will be the first to leave things worse than they got them.

I do wonder though if we are not expecting too much. Do 8 year olds really need a cell phone, iPod, xBox, and all of the other stuff that their parents are now having to find a way to pay for? It used to be we needed food, shelter, a car if we were lucky, and were happy if we got to the Drive In movies on buck nite with the family. Popcorn at the movies was a treat.

While it seems that we are never satisfied with anything anymore, it is almost impossible to go backwards, unless forced to do so. We are now at that point. The interesting thing will be to see how we all respond to it.

We had wood heat growing up....I have a Brother a couple of years younger than me and we had to go help Daddy cut wood each Fall......our payment was a moon pie and a RC Cola....good memories...

Having to break a couple of inches of ice off of the above ground water reservoir so that we could fill up a bunch of one gallon milk jugs wasn't so much fun...but we had to have drinking water when the pipes froze and to pour in the toilet to flush it..... cooldude

Yep.....but I didn't drink milk.....still don't....my folks would sometimes buy some of that flavored juice or orange juice.......and yeah, the toilet was inside.....but if the water pipe to the house froze, it was a pia to flush it!!.....wish they'd have had low-flow toilets back then...... Cheesy.....there wasn't enough water pressure to run the shower until they installed city water service and I had moved to Athens by then..... cooldude

I was raised the old fashioned way.  We made it through the Depression ok.  I also went to a school where the teachers would beat your butt like a Tom Tom if you got out of line.  If that happened, my Dad would do the same when I got home.

I raised my kids the same way.  We sent them to parochial school where they learned the things that got them ready for life: Discipline, responsibility for your actions, and a religious standard that taught them morality.

Today, we are into a 3rd generation of none of the above.  Looking out for No.1, no responsibility for what you do, and no punishment for being a 14 carat arsehole.  Never fear, the 'guvment' will watch your back.

Are the good days over?  yes, unless our 'guvment' starts listening to us and hopefully, we can start making that happen this Fall.

There is a severe lack of personal responsibility in today's generation.....for the most part......it is or was "somebody else's fault" that made them do it.....

When I screw up(and I have a lot), I will take my medicine.....even if it doesn't taste good....I have worked a lot of Inmates on my crew in the last 15 yrs.....and maybe only a handful of them ever told me that it was their OWN fault they were in there.....the age of them has steadily been getting younger too....no real job experience except in "sales"..... Mr. Smith, science and civics. "Golden Blade". Swung it like a bat. Called it a "crack on the crack".
You did get to sign it after five encounters. My dad taught in the same district and I begged him not to tell. The trade-off, two encounters for the price of one. The compensation, I got to sign it sooner.
