« on: August 23, 2010, 06:12:52 AM »

On a trip with 2 friends, riding in West Virginia.  We stopped for lunch and headed out.  Next thing I remember is them telliing me to stay down, 911 had been called. Wish I could tell you what happened but I have no idea.  I think I blacked out, guy behind me said my body went limp. So far, they have not been able to tell me what happened.

I cracked two vertabre in my neck, will wear a collar for 3 months, broke my left wrist and elbow but only the wrist is in a cast now, dislocated 2 fingers on my right hand, right shoulder aches like crazy.  I had a MRI on shoulder and will find out results on Wednesday. I am very lucky, could have been worse.

Any prayers you could send out my way would be great.

Thanks,

Popeye

All,

Thanks for all the well wishes and prayers.

All the tests that they did to see why I blacked out came back normal.

We were heading down the road and it curved to the left. My bike went straight and I hit an
embankment.

My brother-in-law went to WV and got my Harley.  It's at the dealer now.  I think if the frame
is bent, it may be totaled. They were able to ride it into the shop. Saw lots of bent parts before
he took it to dealer.

Ride Safe,

Popeye

Sending you prayers for a speedy recovery and a speedy diagnosis for the blackout. My sister-in-law blacked out recently and only woke up after she totaled her car against a telephone pole. They did not find anything for about 2 months. Then they discovered she had some kind of angina of the heart, which with the right medication is totally under control. Best of luck with everything!

I'm very sorry to hear about your mishap, Rick.  The Harley was a sharp ride - but it can be replaced.  You can't.  Heal quickly.  Terry
