Something like that. Question is, would you tow your Valkyrie on a trailer with a 09 Nissan Murano? The Wife and I have a trip planned late Sept. to Northern California, Utah, Colorado. I plan to do some riding in Ca., with a longtime friend. I have a 1-ton dually, but don't want to drive it because of standard shift tranny; 04 Yukon, don't trust tranny. I don't care to leave my Wife without a car while I'm riding, could rent a Goldwing in San Francisco but don't like getting on new bike that I am not familiar with. Really would like to ride one of my own bikes, more familiar. What do You think I can or should do?

Last year I moved from So. Calif. to Lumberton, Tx. and towed my Valk with a 07 subaru forester with no problems. I say take your own bike and ride the cost and the mountians some of the best riding you will every find.

You shouldn't have any problem. The Murano's towing capacity is 3500 lbs (from Nissan's website) with a 350 tongue weight. The Valk weighs about 800 or so in round numbers. That leaves 2700 lbs to play with. As long as you don't go crazy with the trailer holding the Valk you should be fine. Even a 6x12 single axle enclosed trailer runs in the neighborhood of 1200 pounds, so theoretically you could pull one of those with the Murano and still have 1500 pounds to spare.
Mind you, I wouldn't pull an enclosed with a Murano, but I am just illustrating that it can be done within the towing capacity specs.
I would use a 10-12 foot open trailer to haul it... the weight for an open trailer should be that much less (plus less wind drag, etc.)

I would use the smallest BIG wheel trailer you can get the Valk on. JMO.
I'd put some rock flaps on the tow vehicle... even if they are just temporary ones.
Don't cover the bike.
Ride on.

You might need to charge more than a nickle for that trick...I would say your travel charges will be well more than a few nickles.  |

If you dont want to ride yours from home, I say leave it. By the time you haul it up there, spend the gas hauling it you would be better off renting while you are up there and be money ahead. Rent a bike. It wont take that long to get use to it. Heck I'm use to it by the time I come back from a demo ride! Like I always say, 'Nothing parties like a rental!'  |

I have a 2006 Murano and I've towed my Valkyrie's with a 5x10 open trailer. It pulled great but you know it's back there gas milage goes down about 4-5 MPG
