Better to be judged by 12, then carried by 6.

A few people the past week asked how Sturgis was again for us this year. It was great, the best ever. I say that every year tho.  ??? They asked if it was wild & loud? Did ya see some t!ts? These folks of coarse have never been to the Black Hills Rally before. Yes and no. Its not wild every where. You have to know where to go to be wild. 95% of the place is tame. Its not like it was years ago all ruff and tuff. Way to many laws in recent years. Sure there are 1%ers of every group out there but there not mean 24 hrs. We talked to a 1%er at the grocery store our 1st day there. Nice as can be. T&A? Eh, alot of the 'A' but none of the 'T'. Ive seen enough to last me forever I say!  Loud. Yea but you get use to it. The bikes wake you in the morning and put you to sleep at night. There is nothing better then setting in the Hills and hearing the roar of thousands of bikes on the interstate. They asked me 'then why do you go every year?' Hmmmm...... The people and the riding. The best roads and scenery I ever rode into. The people. We meet a lot of people every year and that is the best part. We hardly put miles on the bike out there this year cause we set and chat. Yea, the people.

We met Mike and Debbie in White River SD as we were getting gas. Kit goes and smokes and mingles with other bikers as I pump gas. These gals were on a Heritage Softail pulling a camper to Sundance WY from Iowa. They had to little dogs that fit into a pouch around Debbies neck as Mike drove. We would head out and stop again for gas at Interior SD and had a beer and here they come. We set and chat over beers for awhile. Next stop was Scenic SD for beer! They have a 106 yr old bar there that looks pretty good. Up rolls Mike. We all go in and have some beer and chat awhile longer. They were really cool ladies.

At camp they have a little area with tables and a small bar to set and mingle. Here we find Bill and Jon. Jon is from MI and is 71 yrs old. Jon is a true biker in my mind. Jon sleeps on the ground under a blue tarp. He made a lean-to off the split rail fence and he has to crawl under the fence to get into his bed. He has done this for years. I say again, he is 71 yrs old! He wanted to go to the wedding to check things out and ended up being the ring bearer! Jon was one funny person. Had a joke about anything and everyone.

Bill is from Al and rides a Suzuki with a CT on it. He was great to talk to and him and Jon would go on for hours. Bill has 10 stints and started getting tattoos once he retired. They reminded him of his life , kids and stuff. Wild Bill pictured on the right.

And theres Dana. Valkhound, tater, whatever you want to call him. He of coarse is a great guy. When we roll into town he is the 1st person we try and meet up with. Always a good time at One Eyed Jacks with him. He’s on a 1st name basis with most of the girls there. Not sure how he does it! He was a witness to us getting hitched and took the pictures.

Dick and Cindy from MN we met last year. Tom and Jane from MN we met this year. We hung out at camp with them from 9p to about 3a for a couple nights. We had a blast. The stuff we did and talked about left tears in my eyes from laughing so hard. They were a fun group. Camp quiet time was at 11p. Guess who was still up! Lol Every time security would come by we would all hide in our chairs. Guess you had to be there. And drunk! We are keeping in touch and plan to camp with each other again next year.
Jane, Tom, Kit, Dick, Cindy

Mark from Witchata (sp) KS. Originally from Eldorado.  A fireman. We met last year and hoped we would see him again and we did. He even hoped to see us to. We would set and talk about runs and stuff for hours. The last night we were there he sat up late with telling story from eldorado when he was there. The Kansas Gobbler story was so funny. Cant really describe it here tho!

Sitting and talking to these people for 6 hrs a night every night was the best part of the trip. The last night at camp was kinda sad. We had to say bye to everyone. Hate doing that since it maybe a year or so before seeing everyone. It was really sad saying bye to Jon. I told him he was a good man and he made some jokes, like he always would. The morning we left I was in town and Kit said Jon came up and hugged and kissed her bye. She said it was so sweet and sad at the same time.

While Kit and I like to go out there and party it up and ride the Hills, it still about the people we meet once a year. Next year rolls around when we see each other again we will pick up where we left off the year before without missing a beat.
