Apropos of nothing.

Had a beer bonding talk tonight about cars and I asked how many American supercars there were.

No specific qualification to be a supercar. Maybe had to be a road production car in the last 10 years.

We came up with

Saleen

Ford GT 40

The very quick Corvette

The very quick Viper

Panoz

SSC Ultimate Aero TT

That gives you an idea of where our thoughts were going.

Any others???

That would be a Ford GT.  The GT 40 is a '60s race car which Ford produced about 50 for the street.  The "40" btw stood for the car's height in inches.  Here's a link with more info than you really wanted to know about the GT40:

I got to play yesterday in traffic with a mustang cobra SVT. I was on the valk and the lady in the mustang was kicking it arround pretty good. That is a very fast car to say the least. It was a ragtop with a paint job that changed colors depending on the angle you looked at it.

Here's my brother in PA in the Factory 5 Cobra kit he built from ground up (since sold and building a Daytona Coupe now)and at a customers house working on his Ford GT.
