Does anyone have any feedback or input on the Shinko tires yet.  I have Avon Venoms on both bikes and love em, but looking to get a spare set (both bikes take same size) and have in hot standby if need be.  The Shinkos appear to be of a nice design and I have not heard much about those tires.   Thanks in advance....

I have read on here (ok, the old board) that they are at a good price and decent tires. I have not tried them. I like the Avons myself. Whatever you do, don't go to the car tire!  2funny

By the way, have ya got a bigger version of the avatar of yours? Your friends deserve a closer look!  Cheesy

Yep they appear to be priced right.... but if they wear out too soon the price isn't right.  I notice they are 5 ply tread and 3 ply sidewall, which seems to be a nice firm tire for these big bikes.   Still looking for feedback on wear and handling etc....

As for the Avatar photo......   I won't post it, but you can cut and paste this to see larger...

It is a very popular brand for the folks that drag race high horsepower sport bikes, and
have heard they make a good but not great crusing tire also.  Dont think its a high mileage tire, but is acceptable.

I have a Shinko on the rear and like it other than it's a bit slippery when it rains. I don't think I'll put one on the front.  I can't comment on wear yet, I only have a couple thousand on it I think.

I had them on my Suzuki Bandit 1200....IMO a decent tire for the $$$.

I put one on the front last fall, so far i have had no problems. I run a car tire on the back.  Wear seems good.

Yes, the price on Ebay is very reasonable for a set of tires and very tempting to get.  I don't care for the E-3's much since I had a bad experience with a set of them, but the Avons or Metz's are good.  IF these would compare in mileage wear or handling to those I would be on em.  Heck, even if they held up and handled like the E3s for the price it wouldn't be too bad I guess.

Anymore feedback before I pull the trigger to get a backup set?

When it comes to tires, don't put yourself at risk just to say $10, $20 or $30 over 6 months.  Cool

Got a new Metzler for the VTX las week. Don't ya just love new rubber!?  laugh

I had a set of Metz's on my VTX for the 2nd set of tires....they had a nice grip but wore out very quickly (even at 40 PSI). I tried Dunlop E3's after that and didn't feel too comfortable on them (that front one was sooo wide and fat) and they both wore out about the same time 8 - 9k .... been running Avon Venom R's since... but as we know they were replaced with Avon Cobra's and I have heard good comparisons with the Venom's, but looking to see what others say about the Shinko's.... so far nothing bad.
