Here's the thing, my alternator cover is rippleing like everyone elses I presume. I am a steel fabricator by trade, I work exclusively with srainless steel. I think I can make these from stainless and polish them to a mirror finish. What I am interested in is how much interest is out there in something like this, I figured this is the best place to check. Thanks for any imput.

I would think there would be reasonable demand. I don't need one but i would be interested in seeing the final product. I'm a sucker for polished stainless!

Where is the alternator cover located on a 2000 I/S? Is it exposed?

As long as it works with the Kuryakyn tranny cover like the OEM cover does, I'm in.

I'm curious.  Lets see how it looks and what the damage to the old cash stash is going to be.

Thanks for all the input. When I get around to making this thing rest assured it will fit with trans covers and will look good. If it doesn't look good it won't go on my IS or anyone elses, and if not reasonably priced I won't make number two. In a few months I hope to send somebody one.

It'll sure be fun to see what "reasonable" is to everybody!  ;-)
Sounds like a GREAT idea!
Presumably it will use the same mounting arrangement, so the new bolt/washer/grommets I just bought will work!

+1, maybe vented more at the back, there has to be a reason the OEM overheats and blisters.

I was considering the same thing, but I'm more of a shoemaker than a fabricator.  I would be very interested, assuming the price is reasonable.

My plastic cover is still looking OK but I've seen what can (will?) happen.  I'd definitely want one.  They look like crap all rippled up.

+1. I'm not so sure that the chrome shine on the tranny cover will be a good match of "shiny" to the SS cover though. Proof is in the end product!  Smiley
