Is the valkyrie the greatest power cruiser of all time?

I dont think "of all time" is a fair question

If the Valk had ABS, more gas mileage, a 6th gear  yeah maybe I would say so

No one bike does EVERYTHING better than anyone but the Valk does SO MANY wonderful things extremely well

For one everytime I ride it   it makes me smile   That alone is enough for me

I can ride (with the RUssel seat and MickOPegs and Highway pegs) all day all week and cruise any speed in 5th gear from near stall speed to triple digits ... wow what other bike can do that?

and who can agree what a power cruiser really is   Was it the best out there when it ran in production, yes I think a good argument can be made for that.  The rocket is way faster, the wing can out manuever it in turns and the beemer and wing can both stop more safely in inclement weather  but which bike gets the admiring glances at the gas pumps from the ladies   no contest the Valk

Great Motor, Good Electronics, Really Heavy Duty Frame and Forks.

It will run a Hundred miles per hour all day long.

Good in the twisties  and people love to Gawk at the thing.

You always hear that that thing will run forever from knowledgeable bike people.

If not the Best, what do you think is the best.

That was interesting reading. I guess I don’t understand the nuances of the definitions. What’s a “power cruiser’ if they’re saying a Valk is NOT one? I’m confused. They mention the ‘V-Max. I think that’s a great little bike. It’s faster than grease snot, but the dimensions make it more of a spare you can carry on a Valk and NOT a ‘cruiser’ by what I understand the word to mean. I would compare one more to a crotch rocket, then a ‘cruiser’, no?

The comments about the Interstate might be insulting to some here – or not. Does the Interstate really burn you up from the heat when the fan kicks on?  I never knew . . . .

IMHO, the Valkyrie interstate is a power long distance touring bike, and I loved it when I owned one, it is much more comfy for traveling long distance than my Tourer, however the Tourer and the standard are definitly the greatest power cruiser of all time. Yes, still IMHO.

i think the issue is 90% of them have no idea what a pwoer cruiser is. nor do they know the facts about the valk.
the valk was rated number 1 by roadbike and motorcycle mags plus some other comparison organization. the v-max was faster yes, by about 8 mph top end and less than 1 second on the 1/4 mile. the v-rod is a piece of dooky and was dropped way down the list. v-65 magna is definitely an awesome bike and was actually the inspiration for the valk from the boys in ohio. with the hp/torque combo of the valk, comfort longevity and dependability, the valk was voted number 1 power cruiser.the rocket 3, as big and nice as it is is a total pos. of course, triumph needs some real electrical engionners to help them keep those bikes dependable.

 just about every person I know who owns a rocket3 (3 people) they all use it to bar hop. wont go on any long distance rides(long distance to them is 100 miles.) nor will the travel out of state(20miles north, 33 miles south) so, what that say about the rocket3??  did I say the v-rod is a pos?? big porsche designed piece of poo poo. v-eod sees the valk and stalls. total turd. and uncomfortable.
  
  todays v-max is 200 hp. its also 25k$ if that what you want, go for it. i will agree with the one guy that said that the interstate is an offshoot of the wing.sorta. I love the looks of the IS because you can actually see the motor. have you seen a wing stripped of its skin?? hideous bike...

 anyway. leave it to ignorance because they just dont know all the facts. and I dont know any white supremisists here...I dont know where they would get that from...

 My dad got one of the first Valkyrie's in this area. When I first saw that bike on the showroom I was like "someday I will have one". Fast forward three years or so. I got my "new" 97 in june of 99. To me it is the best bike for what I want it for. It has lots of power. Handles well for a big cruiser and is smooth as silk. I was riding a 82 Honda 900F before. A good bike in its own right but not a Valk. I could not tour on that bike at all. 100 miles or so was my limit.
 I agree that the Valk is a gas hog and hard on tire. Big deal. As far as someone on there saying the valk is best suited for someone over 300 pounds is ludicrist. That guy must be big time wimp. Does he know that we have more than a few Women that ride these monsters.
 The max is one fast bike. Always has been. Would I tour on one,NO. The Rocket looks like a "john Deer" from one side and is just plain ugly.  How many of the bikes that these guys compared the valk too have ever won the award for "Cruiser of the Decade".
 Everyone has there opinion on what bike best suits them. For me the Valk is it. Period,bar none.

The valk is a bike that was built right from the start. Every year I go to the cycle world show in L.A. Each year I thing I will see something new and exciting worth trading the Valk for. But each year I walk away unimpressed with what I see, and Valk still owns the garage. The way I look at it is I have a bike that will last well into the 300,000 mile mark. I can do all the work on it it requires and it does not cost an arm and a leg to keep. So yes, I think the Valkyrie is the best power cruiser ever made!!!!!!!!

I've owned a lot of bikes, and test ridden even more, I will never part with my Interstate, and actually sold a 2001 VTX to buy my 2000 Tourer.  Nothing else is as comfortable for me (6'4" 315 lbs), or feels as secure and stable at 100mph for hours across Nevada's Hwy 50.  I admit we've been looking HARD at the Spyder RT, but would only part with the tourer (and make the I/S the solo bike), and even then only maybe...  haven't done the Spyder test ride yet.

Long story short - Yes, the Valkyrie is the best power cruiser ever.  EVER.

Not really concerned what others say or think about the Valkyrie ... I only know that it is the bike for me! Power when I need it, comfort and good range. So far, it has done everything that I have asked and the only limitation I have encountered is the driver .... me. So it is not only the BEST Power Cruiser but the BEST DAMN Motorcycle and Honda screwed up when they stopped producing the Valkyrie. But this is just preaching to the choir!

To answer the above question, anyone that thinks the Valkyrie (at least my I/S) is HOT should ride a big twin H-D. And by the way, I own one, but in slow traffic in the summer, it gets hot enough to give you a heat rash on your thighs. Or, maybe those are second degree burns? 

The new ones even shut fuel off to the rear cylinder at idle to stop the heat build-up, and place deflectors under the edge of the seat where your thighs are.
