As some of you may remember from my post last night, the wife and I are in the process of enjoying a much deserved time away from home and work.  In fact we ended up in North Carolina, a far bit from our home in upstate New York.
Some of you may not know it, but we both are eagerly awaiting the birth of our second grand child, who was not expected to make his arrival for another four weeks.
Yes, you're most likely guessing right.  We're generally heading north but in no particular rush to get home.  One thing about where we were is that there's no particular fast way to get back home, two days pushing it, three days with more reasonable driving times (My wife does not drive).  So here we are, in the middle of No Where Tennessee, spotty cell coverage at best, half way through a mountain range that would make any body proud and we get "THE" call:
"Mom, I think I'm going into labor"
        Boom! no cell service!
Half hour later, a text message:
"I'm going to the hospital, my blood pressure is too high"
        Again, lost cell service.
This goes on for hours as we try to find a better way to start heading home in ernest.  There IS NO WAY to get there from here (at least any faster).  So, at any rate, here I am, stuck in a Super 8 somewhere north of Pikesburgh Ky, and I THINK I'm a gonna be a Grand-Pa again!
I wonder if I can get home faster if I take Val off the trailer and make a run for it?

  I'll let y'all know when I know.
(Darn, that Southern talk thing musta rubbed off on me)

Be careful take your time and enjoy the new grand baby forever. Congratulations. We're kind of in the same boat, daughter is carrying twins (one of each) and due date is Oct 20th. We have a ride set for sometime arround the 8 or 9th. of Oct.   We have another one set for the last weekend in Oct. with luck we'll make the later one but the other one is probably a no go. cooldude

2funny 2funny You had to know that was going to happen and the cell phone coverage is classic soooo frustrating. If I were you Id have the wife grab a plane and fly back and you take it easy going back. Daughter gets support you get pictures and when all the comotion is over and youve had a ride you show up as a hero.  Win win  cooldude By the way congratulations on the new arrival.

Apparently is was a bit of false labor.  Daughter has had issues during the pregnancy with blood pressure issues and yesterday it was kinda, well a lot, high.  After a late night at the hospital and discussion about shipping her out to a regional center that works more with high risk moms the contractions stopped.  Guessing daughter was not too interested in that so all was put on hold for another, more inconvienant time.
Looks like grand child was waiting for Gramps to show up so he can ride home on Val.

  More later.
