Hey Joe i was just wondering how you were doing with the non smoking, It's been a couple of weeks for me now. I won't tell you that everything is wonderful, you know better. But all in all its going ok, i really don't think about it like i did at first. I have took up walking at night, about 3 to 4 miles, Mushroom season is only a couple of weeks away here, so i will be ready to hit the woods. I take a week off every year at the end of April to hunt. Hunt in the mornings and then ride in the afternoons. Nice little break from working, Good luck Joe.

Last smoke was March 9 as I entered the hospital for 8 days and 7 nights of hell ...17 days smoke free It's very hard after over 30 years of killing myself but I intend to NEVER have another one. " I have co-workers that dry land fish also.

Joe, I know it wasn't smoking for me, but I gave alcohol on October 15th, 2007 in preparation for my cancer treatments. After nearly 36 years of HEAVY drinking and it sucked. But now, I don't miss it and feel much better for doing it.
Stay the course my friend. If you need a reminder just remember those 8 days and 7 nights of Hell you went through. I remember the 45 days of treatment like it was yesterday.
I believe once you get back to riding you will find life will get better my friend. The wind soothes the soul.

I'll beat this monkey on my back I have no doubt. I can do anything I set my mind to do Look forward to seein' you again Charlie and the custom made quilt you did for Little Presley ROCKS I'll have some photos soon.

I stopped September 2002, after seeing my dad (3 packs a day) pass away at 59. He spent his last 2 years in assisted living with a trach and vent slowly suffocating. At 37 and a dad of 3 boys (2 pack a day), I wasn't going to let my boys watch me fade. No gum, toothpicks or patches...I tried them all, you just know it's time to quit. It has been 6 years but I still crave from time to time, it passes. I still go outside with the smokers out of habbit and the contact smoke. I gained 20 lbs but food tastes SO good and now I can go on a treadmill and not hack.
Joe I think you got your "just know its time". After only reading here for years, your challenge got me to be paticipate. I hope to see you at the Blue/Grey.
