We have an 03 std with 20K miles.  Mileage has dropped from 32 to 20 mpg when we replaced the standard exhaust with Cobra 6x6 with baffels.  The local stealership rejetted the carbs at that time (no I don't know which jets they used) and that is when the mileage dropped.  I have replaced the air filter, spark plugs, petcock, fuel lines, oil/filter, and vacuum lines. Checked the air pressure in tires.  No leaks anywhere. Nothing is making a difference.  Must have the wrong jets in the carbs.  The bike bellows black soot (not smoke) sitting still with the engine at higher rpms. Is that just from running too rich?  Can anyone provide the dyno jet specs for the Cobras so I can order the right jets and have them installed to get this fat lady back to form?  If you can, I would be in your debt.  Email them to lwhdc@yahoo.com.  Fax them to 972-524-5132 or mail them to P. O. Box 1866, Terrell, TX  75160. Post them here, whatever. TIA. Larry

Most of the time they call it rejett when they really change out the needles. This will get you back to almost stock hp. When using the Cobra pipes you lose around 5 to 8 hp. The needles helps with this but you lose mpg. You can have them put the stock needles back in and you will regain your mpg.

Factory jets are 35 low[some folks like to install 38] and 100 high .. Generally though only the needles are changed and if thats the case you can adjust them..

I put that Cobra needle kit in my Tourer about ten years ago. Seems like the kit came with a drill bit to enlarge the holes, if I am remembering right. Is it possible to go back to stock once the holes have been enlarged?

the Factory Pro jet kit that I installed when I bought my Cobra 6x6 pipes came with 105 mains as well as new adjustable needles.  Some people installed 102s in the front 2 carbs and 105s in the rear 4.  Not sure this made much difference to seat of pants but supposedly was noticeable improvement on the dyno.

My dealer dynoed my bike after the Cobras and jet kit were installed and the bike peaked at 90hp.  This was in Denver at 5280', so not too bad at that altitude.
